Root & Flourish Challenge
Day 8: Revolved hand to big toe pose (modification) .
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.
James 1:5 NLT
When you look at this pic, you may be alittle surprised to see me doing the modification of this pose. I mean- I am an instructor right? Whatever your thoughts may have been when you seen this, I encourage you to internalize this truth: Do what is best for you, not what you think others expect you to do because of who you are. Listen to your spirit - ask for help when you need it... there is no shame in that! .
Many people feel like if you have to do a modification or use a prop, you arent good at yoga... what does that truely mean anyway? Modifications and props dont make yoga easier- they make poses more accessible. .
Do not feel any shame. Grow at your own pace. Run your own race. Do what is good for your body. Dont worry about others and where they are in their practice.
What areas in your life are you worried about what others may think? .
Beloved- What God has for you is for you and no one can change that! But you can prolong getting to your destination worrying about others instead of focusing on God! .
To practice Revolved Hand to Big Toe Pose:
*Begin in mountain pose. Root evenly into all four corners of both feet and spread the toes. Find a point to focus your gaze on in front of you.
*Maintaining grounding in the left foot, begin to lift the right knee in line with the right hip. Flex the toes of the right foot. Take a breath here as you feel the strength in the vertical.
*Clasp the peace fingers of the left hand around the big toe (or place a strap around the ball of the foot). Begin to extend the right leg, pressing the sole of the foot away from you as you rotate your heart open to the right and reach the right hand behind you. Feel the stretch of your horizontal. Imagine the width and breadth of the love of God.
*Hold for several breaths before returning to mountain pose. Repeat on the other side.
