When students have asked me my definition of yoga, i say, "Yoga is LOVE." The "L" word is loaded, though. We may define it differently based on culture, media, and direct experience. For me, love is unconditional. It means allowance and acceptance for things as they are presently, not as we want them to be. It means great self-care. It means a clear discernment process to know when to walk away (remember, conditions/circumstances may change but not the unconditional love), and when to stick it out. Either way you CAN come to a deeper place of love.

Watching the sunset or swimming in the ocean is often my deepest yoga practice. It's a place of quiet, of being in the flow, of reconnecting to Nature and my own true nature, that is, beauty, impermanence and love.

It's important to feel appreciation and gratitude towards those who've been in our lives, even if a chapter ends. Especially if it ends bitterly. A bitter heart never bodes well and only creates more suffering. When we throw the baby out with the bath water every time a relationship ends, what does that say about the quality of our heart space and the quality of our love?
I choose a grateful heart, one that's raw, forgiving, compassionate, soft yet resilient and strong. A heart that gently learns its lessons in the human condition and comes out ahead.....more in love and in thanks. What do you choose?

This woman came into my life when I hit a wall a few years ago. She helped me put the pieces back together by holding a safe space for exploration and re-introducing me to my true self. Iā€™m grateful for her knowledge, guidance, and these beautiful words #repost @samdhana_yoga :
