Chicken kebab and chips for tea (homemade chicken) it looks plain but it’s smothered in spices and so much garlic! It was delicious and only 14sp 🥰 hoping to lose a big amount this week. I won’t say how much but I have my expectations high! (Not too high but higher than 1 or 2lbs) 🤞🤞I’ve been completely on track with food. Started drinking water again as hadn’t drank much water for ages, now drinking 2-3litres a day hoping this will help weightloss but also making me feel good. For the longest time I relied on things and other people to make me happy. If I had this I’d be happy, if I looked a certain way I’d be happier, but I’ve realized that’s not the case. I am the happiest I’ve been in a long time and that’s because I chose to create my own happiness. To stop relying on things, people, my looks, etc.

You can wait around for it, or you can create it yourself- and I’m damn proud for how far I’ve come. Go out and do what makes you happy, don’t let other people opinions or things hold you back. Every morning when you wake you have a new opportunity, take advantage of it.

IS YOUR METABOLISM ACTUALLY SLOW?

It's pretty unlikely unless you have hormonal stuff going on. Did you know that one of the ways you can create an instant caloric burn and improve your metabolism is just to move more? Well duh, right? But I'm not talking about moving more IN the gym, I mean moving more OUT of the gym. Things like grocery shopping, playing with your kids, typing, even FIDGETING all adds up to something called non-exercise activity thermogenesis and it has a lot more to do with your daily energy requirements than you think. 
NEAT can account for 15% - 50% of your daily calorie burn depending upon how active or inactive you are. 50%! I mean that is significant and way more than a simple gym session will ever add up to. So even if you cannot get in the gym, that doesn't mean your metabolism is doomed - quite contrary. Here are some ways you can improve your NEAT:

1. Wear an activity tracker and try to get more than 10,000 steps a day!
2. Park further away at the grocery store.
3. Get up and take a 5 - 10 minute walk every 1-2 hours.
4. Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
5. Get a standing desk. Even though you're not technically "moving" standing demands more energy from the body!
6. Take a walk while listening to a course, podcast, or while on meeting call!

Als erste Vorsitzende des Aachener Kneipp-Vereins biete ich einmal im Monat einen Stammtisch für alle wissensdurstigen Frauen und Männern im Alter von 18 bis 180 Jahre an. Für Mitglieder sowie Nichtmitglieder unseres Vereins gibt es jedes Mal eine gut 90-minütige Workshop-Einheit. Jeder Stammtisch-Abend steht unter einem anderen Thema des übergeordneten Kneipp-Elementes >Lebensordnung<. Do you find that sometimes in your practice it starts to feel a bit mechanical and lacklustre? I find I can either be completely focused one practice and then have my mind wondering the next. 
I have to take that time to really reconnect and reawaken my practice. Something that really helps me is to get creative by trying a new pose, new style of yoga or a different approach of setting an intention. x 🧘🏽‍♀️

For: Lasting Flexibility 🤸‍♂️.

This week I decided to include a little explanation from myself instead of writing out a long paragraph😂🙈. In a nutshell...it is important to incorporate active dynamic stretches and exercises which utilize your whole body when you are working to build lasting flexibility!.

Scroll for your new flexibility routine! 🤗 
1. Standing leg lifts
2. Knee down lunge to half splits 
3. Wide-legged forward fold + variations 
4. Dolphin leg lifts.
. ✨Tip:✨ Move slowly through these! Bring your hands to a higher surface (blocks, coffee table, couch) in the standing lifts if your hands or fists do not reach the ground. Enjoy! Lmk how it feels, and reach out if you have any questions! 👇🏼❤️

Reaching out for help is perhaps the biggest challenge for me 🎯

Growing up I took pride in being independent and self sufficient. Listening to everyone with their issues, while ignoring my own. Because technically my life is great, I’m healthy ... nothing to complain or sulk about. But like Britney in Lucky saids “why do these tears come at night?” 😂...I was so used to pushing my emotions down that I could no longer feel them
.
Does that sound familiar to you?
.
Oh but your body knows. Your body is wise and remembers. The good and the not so good. Unprocessed emotions become stored trauma in your body. Muscle tightness, palpitations and imbalances that build up if not addressed
.
So how does one process and release these emotions? I’m not quite sure yet. Talking it out helps, feeling all the feels (the ones we tend to avoid) also helps, journaling, meditating. Releasing anger. Reaching out to someone you trust. A professional, a dear friend. Anything you do, know that you don’t have to go through it alone. One step at a time!

BREATHING techniques at the start of every class help the children wind down and settle in to their practice. They have grown to love the 10 minutes at the start of class purely focussing on the rise and fall of the belly and how they can use this in every day life.

One day last week my daughter was having a “moment” of emotional confusion, not really knowing why she was being snappy with me or bad tempered. I left her to it and went to do some jobs, and when I popped my head back in 5 minutes later she was in a forward fold deeply breathing. I said “what are you doing darling?” and she replied “using my breathing to calm me down.” 😝😝😝😝😝

For me it’s always in the neck and shoulders. Chronic tension and stress affects our body systems in so many ways it’s important to find healthy ways to release your tension on a daily basis.  I use yoga, massage or deep breathing exercises to help release. Had a great massage from @lauren_garner_massage_therapy on Monday that really helped 🙏🏽

There are many angles we are able to take as Naturopathic Doctors to help address conditions like ADHD. 👩⚕️⠀

The first consideration is the importance of the gut-brain axis (GBA). There is a direct connection between the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) and the enteric nervous system (the neurons responsible for intestinal functions). ⠀
⠀
Did you know that the majority of serotonin (a neurotransmitter) in the body is actually produced in the gut itself? The enteric nervous system surprisingly uses more than 30 neurotransmitters! The activities going on in the gut are often indicative of processes going on in the brain, and vice versa. It is well understood that gastrointestinal inflammation and dysbiosis can contribute to alterations in mood and behavior. Specifically, research shows a connection between altered GI flora and ADHD. Therefore, if we are able to address intestinal functioning properly, we are able to change the activities of the central nervous system. We do this by using stool testing and other personalized functional lab testing. 🔬 From the results of a stool analysis, we may make specific recommendations on supplements, probiotics, or dietary changes that can enhance gastrointestinal functioning and therefore help address ADHD symptoms. ⠀

Slim girls have it hard too. I struggle putting on healthy weight, it takes a LOT of consistency and hard work, sometimes you have to force yourself to eat to achieve the required calories to build  muscle just to see a minimal change, but it is ok, I’ll keep going, I won’t give up.

It is so easy to say “I will do it tomorrow”, and tomorrow doesn’t happen.

I get told all the time “I couldn’t do that, I wouldn’t have the motivation to workout at home” and “I don’t have time”.
.
I totally know how you feel and I have been there! The thought of getting up 30 mins earlier to do exercise when you are leaving for work at 7am in the morning, or your kids woke you up at 1, 3 and 5am. I totally get that is the last thing you want to do… but if a friend asked you for help, if she told you her health, her quality of life depended on it, wouldn’t you show up??
. 
When I started using home workouts it wasn’t my friend who asked for help, it was a voice in my head.  My voice, telling me I needed this. That my spark was gone.  I wont lie, it wasn’t easy to start and there are still days when I don’t particularly love pressing play on my workout.  However, I ALWAYS love the feeling when I am done.  And if I don’t take care of me, who else will?

That is why I get up in the mornings, that is why I start my day with doing something for me. To build strength in both body and mind from the core.  Working out, good nutrition and giving myself permission to do the things that make me smile makes me a happier, healthier and stronger woman.

Spreading this passion for feeling good is my mission and I can’t wait to help even more people feel this!✨✨✨
