Another Pilates session with @clairespilatesstudio .  I’m not sure how I managed another class since my abs are still hurting from Tuesday.  @runstrong_coach has given me another training plan and  kind of scared to look at it since he put on a message about hill reps.  But.... I’m sure he has my best interest at heart 🥴🥴and is not out to torture me. FACTS! FACTS! FACTS!

This is one of my favourite JP quotes because it’s so true - my whole body is naturally super stiff (curse of hypermobility 🤨) despite my best efforts to keep supple and I was painfully round shouldered from my desk job.

Starting Pilates was the best thing I could have done, the difference in how I moved and stood was so noticeable within a handful of sessions and my flexibility is getting on leaps and bounds (although I’m not sure I’ll ever get into splits 😄)

Here’s a little sideline series to target the obliques (and a little lower body too!) with a magic circle 🔥 you can modify by keeping the top leg down pressing into the floor or by being the top arm to your waist or as a kick stand in front of you. El músculo piriforme esta ubicado en la parte profunda del gluteo, se origina en la parte medial y anterior del cosis y se inserta en el trócante mayor. 
El sindrome del piriforme es la contractura del músculo, al contracturarse se oprime el nervio ciático generando dolor, dificultad para caminar y estar sentado. ⚠OJO⚠ Este sindrome afecta más a las mujeres, se genera por estar mucho tiempo sentados, una mala fuerza o un mal movimiento. 
TRATAMIENTO 
1⃣ Para mejorar los sintomas es  ideal realizar masajes con una pelota de tennis 🎾 con mivimientos de izquierda a derecha por uno (1) o minuto y medio

2⃣ Estiramientos de los miembros inferiores y los que involucran el piramidal como se muestra en el video, cada ejercicio de estiramiento se debe hacer por un minimo de 20 segundos, es recomendable estirar minimo dos veces en el día

El pilates y el yoga, son técnicas que ayuda mucho a la recuperación

*YOGA IN THE PARK!* Who doesn’t love a little sun mixed with yoga? We’ve been cooped up inside far too long and we want you to roll out your mat on the grass with us this summer. Join us for Yoga in the Park Sunday July 14th 1:00pm-2:00pm in a shaded grassy area of Annieville park.  Bring a yoga mat or a towel, water bottle, wear clothes you can move in, a yoga block if you require one and a great attitude as we get to enjoy this slice of tranquility together. Quite a quick video today guys.... but spicing up the classical Pilates roll down.
◽️◽️◽️
I love the roll down and the flexion and release through the spine whilst still engaging the core, however with this variation we are adding harder elements.
◽️◽️◽️
If you suffer from any spinal injuries or are pregnant then this one is not for you I’m afraid!
◽️◽️◽️
1) breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth to engage core, begin to roll down and articulating the spine (keeping the knees soggy).
•
2) breathe in at the base and out to walk hands out to a plank position. Allowing the body to fully lengthen and engaging the core.
•
3) breathe in again and out to walk feet up to hands. You can bend the knees here to help, but focus should be on keeping a stable pelvis.
•
4) breathe in and out to walk the legs back out to plank. You may need to press the body down a little to create that gorgeous flat back.
•
5) breathe in and out again to walk hands back up to feet. Allow body to relax over. Breathe in at base and out to slowly recover and roll back up to standing.
•
Repeat as many times as you would like! Please take each movement slow and steady so that you can control through breath and complete core engagement.

We’re going back to a classic routine this week, adding in lots of hollow holding to build up our base core strength. A solid core results in stronger and more controlled movements in everything we do. All the faves will be in there in sequence and we’ll be keeping the pace up! L'équipement et le matériel utilisés en Pilates (Le Reformer, Le Cadillac, La Chaise, ...) ajoutent une nouvelle dimension à la méthode et améliorent l'efficacité des exercices au sol. .
Cela dit, de nombreux petits accessoires peuvent être utilisés très facilement, pour varier et développer les exercices.

Ces outils sont aussi simples qu'abordables.
.
J'ai choisi de vous présenter l'Anneau ou "Ring Pilates" ou "Magic Circle".
.
Il s'agit d'un anneau de résistance par effet ressort qui permet une multitude de variations des exercices de base. .
Il peut être positionné entre les mains,  les genoux,  contre l'épaule, la hanche, sous le pied afin d'augmenter la charge de travail.
.
L'anneau est également très pratique pour les étirements des jambes et de l'arc postérieur.

Loooooove finding ways to vary/enhance the #matpilates repertoire ! Bridging is an exercise designed to strengthen the postural muscles - primarily the gluteus maximus. The shoulder bridge position involves maintaining the arms extended at each side of the trunk while elevating the pelvis.  This allows for the upper body to provide some assistance while simultaneously engaging the muscles in the shoulder blades, upper back, neck, abdominals, and legs.  In this position, proper spinal and shoulder alignment is key in order to activate the stabilizing muscles.  Performing a chin tuck works the deep neck flexor muscles and performing scapular retraction (gently squeezing the shoulder blades together) activates the scapular stabilizing muscles which promote proper spinal alignment and stretches the front of the chest.  This series helps to achieve a balanced posture which is necessary for optimal muscle function.  Integrating diaphragmatic breathing with this exercise provides an additional component that can facilitate the alleviation of pain, enhance oxygen delivery and maximize exercise tolerance. 
With a min frequency of 16 Hz on your Hypervibe the strength and stability of the Glutes, Hamstrings and Postural Stabilizers can be improved with efficiency.

Sometimes when we sit at the computer we let our body slump, shoulders hunch forward and we lose focus on how we should be sitting. MY WHY

Recently I’ve had time to reflect on why I do what I do. We all have days of stress, feeling overwhelmed and self doubt. I’ve been through this lately but I always go back to WHY I do what I do. 
The reasons are simple when you break it down, I love the challenge of running my own business, I love seeing the improvement in people’s lives that Pilates brings, I love getting to know my classes and building up a community of like minded people. Finally I do this to fit it around my family and enjoy the fun things with them.

MY WHY Recently I’ve had time to reflect on why I do what I do. We all have days of stress, feeling overwhelmed and self doubt. I’ve been through this lately but I always go back to WHY I do what I do. The reasons are simple when you break it down, I love the challenge of running my own business, I love seeing the improvement in people’s lives that Pilates brings, I love getting to know my classes and building up a community of like minded people. Finally I do this to fit it around my family and enjoy the fun things with them. Sempre defendi o quanto é  importante que o Instrutor de Pilates também pratique o Método e aqui apresento 3 motivos:

2 - fazer a aula de outro profissional é sempre uma maneira de não se auto sabotar, afinal temos a tendência em optar por exercícios da nossa preferência e muitas vezes o que mais temos que treinar são esses não tão preferidos

I call this set "instant sweat" 🔥 I'm alternating between high intensity and core stabilization exercises - this type of workout helps you:
✅ Improve cardiovascular health.
✅ Increase your metabolism/fat burning for 24 hours (or more).
✅ Bust through plateaus

🔑 The key is to make sure you are including exercises that *true* high intensity - meaning you couldn't do it for more than 1 minute and find it difficult to say a whole sentence after the interval. Your "high intensity" level will be different from someone else's, so use these parameters as a guide to find your level.

Not sure if you're ready for high intensity? Just pick one high intensity exercise you can do and add it to your normal routine for 20 seconds at a time, 4-5x during your workout, up to 3 days a week.

“Your arms are really toned. Is that from Pilates?” I didn’t even hesitate with my answer, “Nope! That’s from weight lifting.” She looked disappointed

Hey, I get it. Pilates has long been advertised as the way to get ‘long & lean muscle without the bulk’ 🙄 I too fell into that trap in my 20s & left a little PO’d about it 🤬 because that 💩 is false

Pilates is not about how you look, it’s about how well you can MOVE so you can do everything else you love better & injury-proof

Between CrossFit, Olympic weightlifting and Powerlifting, I had A LOT of issues & imbalances keeping me from truly feeling, performing, or living my best. Pilates took me from zero to 💯 in the weight room

Before Pilates..
.
⚡️I was stiff & achey all the time
⚡️My shoulders would throb from an endless amount of snatches that I just couldn’t get
⚡️My back was so compressed that it hurt to bend over .

After taking up a serious Pilates practice however...
.
⚡️I hit more PRs
⚡️My flexibility went ⬆️
⚡️My back and shoulders stopped hurting ⚡️My abs were strong AF
⚡️My hips stopped crying cause they could move again

I am a better Pilates teacher and trainer today because I experienced and tested the magic of Pilates on my OWN body, through multiple reps of snatches and squats and Injuries

To this day, I take time out of my lifting session to get on the mat and do my Pilates FloWOD (my online pilates course for lifters) to keep me strong and supple
