Hey, I get it. Pilates has long been advertised as the way to get ‘long & lean muscle without the bulk’ 🙄 I too fell into that trap in my 20s & left a little PO’d about it 🤬 because that is false
Pilates is not about how you look, it’s about how well you can MOVE so you can do everything else you love better & injury-proof
Between CrossFit, Olympic weightlifting and Powerlifting, I had A LOT of issues & imbalances keeping me from truly feeling, performing, or living my best. Pilates took me from zero to in the weight room
️I was stiff & achey all the time
️My shoulders would throb from an endless amount of snatches that I just couldn’t get
️My back was so compressed that it hurt to bend over .
After taking up a serious Pilates practice however...
️I hit more PRs
️My flexibility went ️
️My back and shoulders stopped hurting ️My abs were strong AF
️My hips stopped crying cause they could move again
I am a better Pilates teacher and trainer today because I experienced and tested the magic of Pilates on my OWN body, through multiple reps of snatches and squats and Injuries
To this day, I take time out of my lifting session to get on the mat and do my Pilates FloWOD (my online pilates course for lifters) to keep me strong and supple
