Morning ladies during Spartan after 2 minutes of lunges 😱

Suspension training is a great exercise tool whether you want to build strength, lose fat, improve endurance or flexibility. We like to use crankit straps here and they are so diverse that can be used to achieve any fitness goal.

You can simply adjust your body position to add or decrease resistance, so you're in control of how much you want to challenge yourself on each exercise - It is a low impact training method which allows people of all levels to train comfortably with less risk of causing or agitating a pre-existing injury.

Today on MOVE MONDAY we are featuring LUNGES!! Have you ever thought about how you get up off the floor and/or how you get down to the floor? These are actions in everyday life that we want to do both safely and functionally. LUNGING supports the muscles required to get both up and down! 
We often talk about the importance of LUNGING and have done many posts on different ways to perform a LUNGE. If you've ever taken a Pilates class at PJPW you probably have heard the instructors rave about how much they LOVE LUNGES! So chances are you've probably done them in a class once or twice!

We have two halves to our pelvis. We have a left hip bone and a right hip bone. They are attached together by the sacrum, the bone in the middle at the bottom of the spine. While performing  a LUNGE we have one half of our pelvis anteriorly tilting (back leg) while the opposite half is posteriorly tilting (front leg). Our pelvis does the same thing while we walk but in a smaller range. 
In our society we tend to have over active quads that take on 80% of the load. This means the front of our legs over power the back. When doing LUNGES our glutes really get to work. By working and strengthening the glutes/back of the legs, it helps to allow the quads to be less dominant therefor having more balance between the legs. 
With LUNGING there are lots of things to think about. Starting with the pelvis, you want to keep your hips level. Think about reaching the hip of your front foot down towards the floor and the hip of your back foot forward. Next think about your knees, try to have a 90 degree angle at both knees while doing standing LUNGES. Lastly think about your feet. On your front foot try to keep the four corners planted. With the back heel lifted, try to stay equally weighted on the inside and outside of the ball of your foot and propel your power from your glute.

Today on MOVE MONDAY we are featuring LUNGES!! Have you ever thought about how you get up off the floor and/or how you get down to the floor? These are actions in everyday life that we want to do both safely and functionally. LUNGING supports the muscles required to get both up and down! We often talk about the importance of LUNGING and have done many posts on different ways to perform a LUNGE. If you've ever taken a Pilates class at PJPW you probably have heard the instructors rave about how much they LOVE LUNGES! So chances are you've probably done them in a class once or twice! We have two halves to our pelvis. We have a left hip bone and a right hip bone. They are attached together by the sacrum, the bone in the middle at the bottom of the spine. While performing a LUNGE we have one half of our pelvis anteriorly tilting (back leg) while the opposite half is posteriorly tilting (front leg). Our pelvis does the same thing while we walk but in a smaller range. In our society we tend to have over active quads that take on 80% of the load. This means the front of our legs over power the back. When doing LUNGES our glutes really get to work. By working and strengthening the glutes/back of the legs, it helps to allow the quads to be less dominant therefor having more balance between the legs. With LUNGING there are lots of things to think about. Starting with the pelvis, you want to keep your hips level. Think about reaching the hip of your front foot down towards the floor and the hip of your back foot forward. Next think about your knees, try to have a 90 degree angle at both knees while doing standing LUNGES. Lastly think about your feet. On your front foot try to keep the four corners planted. With the back heel lifted, try to stay equally weighted on the inside and outside of the ball of your foot and propel your power from your glute. I always like to start the work week with leg day (even though I do legs daily 😜) I like to dedicate either a heavy weight gym routine or a leg exclusive reformer set. For the scooter/side scooter series I use a red and blue spring. Este complejo es perfecto para empezar una intensa rutina en la que vayan a trabajarse movimientos de presses.

O, también para incluirlo dentro de la rutina principal y después de algún movimiento grande de fuerza.

Arranca el drill desde atrás de las pesas para traerlas a rack con balanceo e inmediatamente ejecuta un thruster para dejar las pesas adelante de ti otra vez.

Después, toma una pesa y realiza un snatch con balanceo. Manteniendo la pesa arriba de la cabeza, arrodilla la pierna correspondiente al brazo estirado y colócate en una posición de zancada para ejecutar un snatch más como en el video.

Repite el clean, el thruster y los snatches con el otro brazo.

Las zancadas se encuentran entre los ejercicios más comunes que podemos hallar en cualquier rutina. Ya sea para calentar, o si es que queremos tonificar muslos, glúteos o el core, estas son bastante recurrentes ☝.

Sin embargo, cualquier actividad física, sin importar su naturaleza o qué tan beneficiosa sea, puede resultar perjudicial para nuestro cuerpo si la ejecutamos mal.
. 
En este caso, el principal riesgo está en inclinarse demasiado hacia adelante durante la zancada. Esto no solo hace que forcemos los músculos de nuestra espalda para mantener la postura, sino que por hiperextender la columna causa dolor en la zona lumbar (parte baja de la espalda).

Además, la pierna delantera debe mantenerse firme, pues no solo es el soporte del cuerpo, sino que evita que este se balancee. Cuando esto último sucede es posible que la espalda termine arqueándose, lo cual causará molestias 😥.

Un consejo útil es realizar zancadas asistidas, es decir, con el apoyo de una silla, cualquier otro objeto o incluso una pared. Al sostenernos, mantenemos el equilibrio y podemos concentrarnos en mantener la posición correcta, minimizando el riesgo de daños y lesiones.

Para realizar una zancada correctamente nos pondremos de pie, con las manos apoyadas en la cintura. Allí daremos un paso hacia adelante, procurando mantener el torso lo más recto posible. El paso no debe ser ni muy largo ni muy corto, y el pie debe quedar completamente apoyado sobre el suelo 👟.

Mientras esto sucede, la pierna de atrás se irá doblando hasta casi tocar el suelo con la rodilla, aunque sin llegar a hacerlo. Mantenga los hombros alineados con la cadera, y la espalda recta y neutral. Una vez allí, podremos volver a la posición inicial.

En condiciones correctas, las zancadas deben fortalecer la espalda y prevenir el dolor, por fortalecer la musculatura tanto de la zona lumbar, como la del abdomen y la pelvis (partes del core). Y recuerde: cuidar su postura al hacer ejercicio es cuidar su salud 🙌.

In today's society most people are well aware of the benefits of exercise. It's not to get skinny. It's not to be more attractive. It's about being physically fit and healthy.

Despite of these obvious reasons, the biggest excuses are between, "I don't have enough time" and "I don't know what to do". The first reason is just an excuse. Life is about making time. But the second, that's a valid excuse. You walk in a gym and isn't prepared to have an effective 45min to an hour workout. -

When you go to your gym and see this weird cannon ball with a handle on it, that's called a kettlebell. Kettlebells are the most effective equipment you can use in the gym.

Here I've put together a great full body circuit using one kettlebell, which is great for beginners. I recommend timing your circuit with one minute. Do every exercise for one minute with no rest until you finished them all. Rest for 30 seconds and do it all over again. I recommend five rounds with a moderate weighted kettlebell. -
