A FULL UPPER BODY WORKOUT TODAY calls for some post workout protein and carbs to help repair and rebuild the muscles.

Because you’re breaking down muscle while you lift weights, you’re body needs protein and carbs to repair what’s been broken down and it also needs to start building the muscle back up. Some people think any protein source and high sugar carb source will work. Forgot to post yesterday’s workout. Finally back up to squatting 2 plates. Bench is feeling good also and weighted dips didn’t bother my shoulder. Steady progress back to where I was at before I got sick.

I know myself. I’m proud, so I’m often tempted to lift heavier and put form on the backburner. Instead, I’m teaching myself to be proud of “form gains”.

With resistance training, adding load to the bar is the most obvious form of progression.

The obsession with increasing load often comes at the expense of form. Form deterioration comes at the expense of gains, as a full range of motion and correct technique 1) promote muscle growth and strength increases, and 2) reduce injury risk, so you’re less likely to die (and you can’t make gains if you’re dead).

One of the less obvious ways to progressively overload an exercise is to improve range of motion and exercise technique.
