26 years, and 1000 ceramic pieces.
The amount of work that went into Lubna Chowdhary installation is amazing in itself. It makes one realize how much effort it takes to build an entire city. And that is exactly what the artist depicts in her work "Metropolis". Placing these little, highly interesting ceramic pieces that resemble architecture, toys, or electronic pieces together in a glass box, she lets us see through countless vantage points. Hence, establishing the infinite mess of a city scape in our minds, yet letting us find its end. The artist related the making of these ceramic sculptures with the making of sweets in South Asian countries, a sign of celebration, a chance to mould beautiful endeavors with your hands. Her three dimensional objects when viewed singularly, manage to form a collective, and show the importance of architectural surroundings that form the base of a metropolitan. A visual treat, this work gives the viewer an opportunity to play with perspectives, and understand the importance of collectives.
