Whilst travelling to different countries, my priorities are generally first and foremost to visit places, engage myself in activities, take beautiful photographs, perhaps try to learn some of the local language. I am not really a "foodie", as I place it low on the priority list.
All that changed when I arrived in Iran, where my various couchsurfing hosts introduced me to foods from different regions of the country. From the humble kebab to golden caviar, fried fish to saffron ice cream, my mouth was treated to an explosion of flavours unlike anything I'd experienced before.
I'm unsure if sampling local cuisine will ever take top spot, but it certainly has made significant strides up the ladder. - 3 minutes ago
