Toy Story 4 is a 2019 animated movie directed by Josh Cooley and starring Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Annie Potts, Tony Hale, Christina Hendricks, Keegan Michael Key, Jordan Peele, Ally Maki, Madeleine McGraw, Jay Hernandez, Lori Alan, Keanu Reeves, and Joan Cusack.
Plot and Positives: Now living with a new kid, Bonnie, Woody tries to help a newly formed toy, Forky, realize his importance his Bonnie's life. This is a great film. I'm not going to lie, this film had me in tears at the end of it. A powerful ending to say the least. But the build up and middle section was just as great as well. Tom Hanks, Annie Potts, and Tony Hale are the stars of the show here. Their performances really bring us as an audience full circle with the lessons and trials we had in the first film. Jordan Peele and Keegan Michael Key had me dying of laughter as Ducky and Bunny. At one point I was literally laughing out loud in theater (sorry to anyone who saw the movie with me). And Christina Hendricks as the villain was something new that we haven't seen in the franchise. I really am glad they made this movie. It really does go to show people that stories can be told after a trilogy is completed.
Problems: I really didn't see any problems with this film. If you like the original trilogy and that's your thing I would still suggest just watching this movie.
Final thoughts: this is a beautiful movie. Not just visually but story wise. A very unpopular opinion but I prefer this over Toy Story 3. This concludes the story for me. This fulfills the promise of what Toy Story 3 was talking about, a great life after Andy has left Woody's. A must see in the theaters.
