This has GOT to stop.
The finger pointing. The guilt tripping. The judgy attitudes. Yep, I'm talking about real life Mommy wars - you know the thing that you HATE so much as a Mom, but most likely have fallen in the traps of getting caught up in at least one or two.
I especially see this division between working moms and stay at home moms...and it's downright nasty.
Being a Mom that works from home while tending to my children all day alone, I have a unique perspective that can see both sides of this on-going war.
Working Moms, you have made a huge sacrifice and I see that. You leave your babies day after day to help provide for your family. Having the duel role of bread winner AND caregiver is tough and you must be immensely exhausted. I see your strength and I praise you for it.
Stay at home Moms, you have made a huge sacrifice to stay at home and raise your babies when you might be feeling swallowed up in the role of Motherhood. I know what it feels like to lose yourself in the daily grind of picking up messes, wiping tiny tushies, and breaking up sibling fights that have you reaching for the wine by the end of the day. Being a Mom is often a thankless job, but what you are doing is so important.
Working Moms, your worth isn't measured by your income, so don't let that minimize what stay at home Moms do.
Stay at home Moms, your worth isn't measured by how many tasks you can juggle in a day, so don't guilt working Moms about not being around to experience it all day long.
Before any judgements are made, we all need to realize that all family dynamics are different. Each case is unique. What works for you might not work for your neighbor, and it's important for our culture to grow as a whole to realize this.
So next time a judgement creeps into your head, remember this. Remember that we all have different goals, different needs, and different lives. And being different is GOOD.
