The rewards of uncertain times or events in your life, are not always apparent straight away. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sometimes you’re feeling frustrated about something going on in your life, and it’s not until weeks or months later that it becomes apparent why and what lessons you learned along the way.
Travelling with kids is a little like that. It’s hard. You might say ‘oh poor you travelling to the south of Spain, going to beach each day, that’s hard’...but it can be. And right now, it is. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The kids are WAY out of any kind of routine. We are living in someone else’s house (albeit it’s grandad!). Eating strange food. Perpetually tired. Fighting more. Winging more.
But I know deep down that the benefits they get from travelling with us, seeing the world, talking to the vendors on the beach, trying different foods, speaking a little bit of Spanish, seeing other ways of life, knowing that our world is big but also small, are all benefits they’ll reap when they get older and reflect back on their childhood. Their eyes are opened and I hope they too step outside their comfort zones to travel, meet others and experience other cultures, because for me, that’s a rich life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For now, we breath deeply when noise levels mount. Take a little walk when we’re feeling stressed. Spend some 1:1 time when it looks like they need it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have you been through something and realised later that it was part of the journey? Did it teach you something you needed later on? I’d love you to share with me here. ✨ - 8 hours ago
