Part IV: Our turn had come. Just like that we were faced with one of the most wonderful decisions, and hardest, of our lives. We're often asked: "But what do you knooow about your donor?!" Like there's all mystery and intrigue involved - well, we know enough to absolutely easily identify him through what he chose to write about himself. We know this: his age at the time he donated, birth year, height and weight, eye colour, hair colour, complexion, blood type, his country of birth and ethnic origins, religious affiliation, current sexual orientation, current relationship status, number of own children, education level, occupation, and what he enjoys doing in his spare time. Donors are also asked a series of questions which they can give as much or as little information about as they choose. Things like Social History: how they get on with others; Education and Occupation: what subjects they enjoyed at school and why they chose their current employment; Health: any operations, any reactions to medications or anaesthetics, right or left handed, whether they're a smoker or drinker or partake in recreational drugs; Biological Family History: parents and grandparents details including upbringing, plus any siblings. And the two big questions: Why did you want to be a donor? What thoughts do you have about the possibility of contact in the future?
