It’s true... people rarely post the progressions that build the foundation for movements... but we all have to start somewhere. Be patient with yourself and don’t risk injuries by chasing PRs.

What’s up, Achievers?! @jasonlpak here with a PSA and mindset strategy. We see so many incredible physical abilities and feats of strength on Instagram - it’s super inspiring to see what humans are capable of and it’s amazing to have access to it in the palm of our hands. When this can become a problem is if the viewer scrolling through their feed, becomes discouraged rather than inspired. You would never watch Serena Williams play tennis, or Lebron James play basketball, or Simone Biles perform in gymnastics and say to yourself, “why can’t I do that?” You automatically have an understanding that they were born to do what they do, and that they've combined those genetic predispositions with incredible amounts of practice, dedication, and patience - all while battling moments of failure along the way.
However, we do the exact opposite when we think about fitness! We see someone do handstands, backflips, pistol squats, olympic lifts, muscle ups, or look a certain way, and our gear is to immediately compare ourselves to that person and then wonder why we can’t do those things when they make it look so effortless.
It’s definitely not as readily apparent, because it’s not really fair to compare feats of strength you see on IG to the level of Serena and Lebron, BUT it still took that person years and years of hard work, dedication, practice, and patience to achieve what they’ve been able to do. Most of them probably have a gymnastics background at a young age or have played sports throughout their whole childhood. What you don’t see is all of the trials and tribulations, the learning mistakes, the failure, the frustration, and grit that have gotten them to this point.
