“Oh my matcha.”
Yes, my obsession is far from mild, but can you blame me?
I was recently asked to write a blog for [insert name] and they gave me the freedom to write about anything... aaannnyyything..... 💭 *cue the romantic music and visions of me holding hands with a cup of matcha as we prance through matcha-dusted clouds underneath the matcha-tinted sunlight*
I wrote about matcha.
Here’s what I came to find:
It’s been traced all the way back to 7th-century China, but gained popularity in 10th-venture Japan when its CALMING BENEFITS were discovered and used for Zen Buddhist rituals.
Catechin, an antioxidant within matcha, is powerful and potent enough to help counteract the effects of icky free radicals, aka HELPS PREVENT CANCER.
The greeeeen color is its impressive amount of chlorophyll which DETOXIFIES by helping eliminate heavy metals and chemicals from your body.
The caffeine BOOSTS ENERGY, and it does so without the jitters.
L-theanine, am amino acid within matcha, promotes a state of relaxation by creating alpha waves (versus over-excited beta waves) in the brain.
Now to explain my obsession on a more personal level — many don’t know, but I (like many others) am anxietygirl3000 mixed with panicchick424. Coffee, although delicious, leaves me shaking, nervous and stressed by the most minor of tasks. So when something that makes feel calm and nourished is integrated into my routine, I suddenly feel a sense of calm beyond what the L-theanine is giving me - I feel revived and ready for whatever comes my way... at least during those first few sips. A fair obsession, I’d say. - 4 days ago
