Starting my shift off right. This has been on repeat the last two weeks as my workday breakfast: overnight pumpkin caulioats 🤤 
In a saucepan, combine: 190g almond milk, 31g Sun Warrior vanilla protein powder, 8g vanilla sugar free fat free pudding, pumpkin spice, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Stir and let thicken, then add 190g riced cauliflower and 75g pure pumpkin. Let cool, then I added 10g pecans and 20g dates; or whatever desired toppings you prefer. Snacks is an energy ball, you can buy these, but I recommend making a batch at home and having them for the week. It's basically just blended dates & nuts with whatever extras you want like cacao powder, protein powder, hemp seeds, etc.⁠

Lunch is chickpeas pasta with tomato sauce & roasted veg, really simple and easy to prep a few meals at once.⁠

Dinner is my homemade seitan with potatoes & veg. Seitan is made from wheat protein basically, so if you can't digest gluten this isn't for you. I find seitan is a nice change for dinner and I'll have it once every week or twice a month. By making it at home I can adjust the ingredients and avoid some of the added oils in store-bought ones.⁠

RECENZE. Nová aktiňácká proteinovka spatřila světlo světa, takže jsem samozřejmě musela podlehnout trendu a ochutnat. Vyrábí se ve dvou příchuťích: bílá čokoláda & madle, lískový oříšek & nugát. Za mě byla bílá čokoláda s mandlí lepší. Co vám budu povídat - nadšená ani odvařená z ní nejsem. Za mě jsou tyčinky Carb Killa mnohem lepší, a těch cca 60 kcal radši obětuji a víc si pochutnám. Co je nutné zmínit, makra a složení mají tyčinky opravdu výborný - takže pro deficitní příjem budou ideální pro zahnání chutí na sladké. Další výhodou je, že jsou bez celkové polevy - takže se Vám teď v parném létě nerozpustí v kapse, což chceš.

Sto lidí, sto chutí :). Udělej si vlastní názor a vyzkoušej je.

UPOZORNĚNÍ. Kalorická hodnota JEDNÉ této tyčinky odpovídá kalorické hodnotě jedné cereální kaiserky s cca 50 g  šunky a 100 g okurky hadovky. Co si dáš radši?

Absolutely all over dairy-free ice cream now, just every non-dairy version of foods sit so much better with me. Just goes to show that we aren't meant to have so much dairy on the daily 😂 Definitely does not taste different either, despite it being coconut-based, which is great 🤘🏼

Friends, how is your summer going so far?  Mine has been a mixed bag – as it always is (so hard reconciling my expectations for the perfect summer with reality) - but this week we’ve had lots of  pool time, summer produce (peaches! heirloom tomatoes!), and ice cream and I feel like maybe we’ve finally settled into our summer groove.  One thing I am determined to make a priority: putting my phone down more so I can focus on being present these last weeks of summer.  I’m just not sure the best way to do it: do I decide on set hours each day that I’m going to leave it in another room, or even a set day each week (Sunday?) where I don’t use it for anything other than essential calls/texts? What have you done – if anything – to unplug more? I’m feeling like it would be good for my soul, but the logistics feel challenging.

There are different kinds of carbs: to keep it simple lets just categorize them as simple and complex. When we eat carbs, our body has to break it down into to glucose so it can be utilized for fuel. 
Simple carbs, don’t take very long to breakdown (which is why they are referred to as simple.. there’s not much breakdown that needs to happen) so consuming simple carbs spikes your blood sugar, which is generally what we don’t want at any random time during the day 
Constant spiking of blood sugar results in a constant spiking of insulin, which is the hormones our body uses to shuttle carbs into our cells to be used as fuel. If you spike your insulin too frequently, it leads to your body becoming resistant to insulin which means it becomes harder and harder for your body to use carbs you eat for fuel.. meaning most of them get stored as fat.

That is why its recommended that we eat complex carbs like rice and oats at our meals; they are harder for the body to break down, so blood glucose levels rise steadily and insulin isn’t constantly being spiked.

HOWEVER- there is one time of the day you DO want this insulin spike and a simple carb that digests VERY quickly: immediately after you do resistance training! 💪🏼 Carbs are our primary fuel source. They are stored IN the muscle in the form of glycogen. So what do we use a ton of when we train?... glycogen. When muscle glycogen is depleted our bodies want carbs to replenish this fuel. In fact if you only have protein post workout, you will actually convert much of it into glucose to replenish glycogen. So you aren’t really repairing muscles effectively. The more efficiently you repair muscle, the more efficiently you burn fat for fuel, giving you results faster.🤷🏼‍♀️ So post workout I always have the simplest carb I know of (a dexanhydrous glucose) paired with whey isolate. When you have too complex of a carb post workout, it takes longer to digest and you end up delaying the muscle recover process by several hours. I want to jump start recovery as quickly as I can. •
