🧱 Second bed done
I’m so pleased I was able to do this second bed by myself and it turned out great! It was a bit of a risk considering it matches in size to the bed next to it, meaning if I was too uneven in my technique it would absolutely show. But I am very happy with this nice and level bed!
Bricklaying for me (like many hands on jobs) has been quite an enjoyable new skill to learn. You don’t really notice how much physical labour you’ve endured until the end of the day so it definitely pays to do some stretching before and after! If you are making your mortar with lime, be super carful to cover up any existing scratches as it stings like hell if some sneaks in there! And two very essential tools needed are a level and a brush. I used two brushes at the end, one wire brush to scrape off larger unwanted chunks of mortar and a boot brush to run through all the gaps to create a tidy finish with a faint texture.
