If you blame a suicidal or a depressed person person, consider this- you are going through something horrible, painful and almost makes you wanna die and someone blames all of this on you, wouldn't your situation worsen? Wouldn't you want to die more because of being de-valued and blamed?
Depression doesn't usually has a reason. So if a person says they're depressed and you cannot find any reason, do not say it to their faces, because guess what? There is. There is something on their mind you don't know. So if you say and I quote " What do you have to depressed about? Your life is amazing" you come off as an ass. You might not be a sympathetic person but you can choose not to come off as an ass.
When a person is suicidal their dark thoughts overpower their actual thoughts. When you devalue their problems, that itself becomes a problem. When you say they are selfish to kill themselves, they did not think about others, guess what they did, but again their dark thoughts managed to overpower it. Could they have stayed behind and work this out? Maybe, maybe not. Life is a series of ups and downs. Downs can get pretty low, but you'll eventually get up.
Are parents like-"We cannot say a single bad thing to kids nowadays"? If yes guess what? The generation who raised us did it with so much of toxic tiger parenting that the actual bond of a parent and a child broke. Tough love isn't always right. You don't need to be tough all the time. Being vulnerable is okay. Being not okay is okay. Cause at the end of the day we are humans, who can feel both happiness and warmth and also sadness, coldness.
In Pandora's box, there was only bad and bad of the world. The only good? Hope. Hope is what keeps us going, and if one person losses it, they lose the will to stay behind for a next wave of change.
Suicide isn't good, but you shouldn't blame the one who did it. Rather learn from this and make sure no one you know has to go through this. Be there to listen, most of us just want to be heard and understood. - 6 minutes ago
