OMG... I'm dying. We just finished our third fit test and man it was rough. I pushed myself super hard today and my efforts show! I'm pumped!!! I think the only thing I didn't do better on this time was the power jumps. YAAASS! Getting fit! (Don't mind my chicken scratch. I recorded these mid workout)

Not fasting today!! After a productive high intensity interval training session, it is good to replenish glycogen stores by increasing your carb intake.  My post HIIT workout high carb breakfast was a bowl of (unsweetened) rolled oats with cinnamon, vanilla, whey protein and a little coconut milk. Topped it with homemade strawberry compote, banana, chia seeds, collagen peptides, blueberry extract (pterostilbene) and almonds.

🔥Hip Flexor Eccentric Strength🔥

💥 Today's exercise can be used for a few different purposes, but I'm going to focus on how it can be used to improve hip flexor LENGTH overtime by progressive loading through the muscle's full range of motion
-
👊🏼 Without going into too much detail, statically stretching a muscle will only improve its flexibility for a short period. In order to truly improve a muscle's mobility long-term, it's important to do the following 2 things as well:
-
📌Strengthen the opposing muscle in a shortened position while the muscle in question is in a fully lengthened position
📌 Strengthen the muscle in question in a fully lengthened position with eccentric and isometric contractions
-
🐒 During most static stretching, if you are doing it correctly you will already be working to stabilize and contract the opposing muscle in its shortened position. However, in many cases it can be helpful to strengthen the stretched muscle through its newly acquired range in order to help the muscle "GROW LONGER"
-
⚡ The physiology of how this works should be saved for a separate post, but basically just as muscles can grow LARGER they can also grow LONGER if you are strengthening them through their full range of motion. Since muscle strengthening is specific to the range of motion used, a muscle that is weak in a newly acquired range of motion (fully lengthened) will adapt by improving the strength in that range of motion when a load is applied to it. This can include increasing muscle tissue along the length of the muscle, making it longer -

Seriously insane move of the day. 😭🤪🤯I remember when I first did insanity max 30 and this move (with no step) was introduced, I thought Shaun T was CRAZY! Jumps into lunges at a high speed. No average person can do that! WRONG! An average person can do that...with a little hard work an average person can end up taking it to the next level and doing the move on a step! 
I am not special. Fitness is not my profession. Nor do I spend hours at the gym a day. I just work at my goals every single day and everyday I see a little bit of progress. 8 weeks ago I started a workout program.. I had no idea how much it would change me not just on the outside but also change me on the inside. My only regret is that I didn’t start sooner! 33 min HIIT Workout and 352 calories burned! Yeah baby!
- 12 reps of each exercise * 30 sec cardio burst

- Squat to shoulder press (10 lbs)
* Jumping Jacks for 30 sec
3X - Bench press with leg raise (20 lbs)

- Deadlift with bent over row (20 lbs)
* Jump rope for 30 sec

- 10 push-ups
* Jump squats for 30 sec
Finished with 10 lb weighted donkey kicks
12 reps each leg with 10 sec pulse - 2X
and

I can't remember the last time I did HIIT and man was this a killer. Due to the fact that I only recently started doing cardio again, I couldn't hit 45 seconds per exercise and set my goal as 30 instead. 
Not being able to hit 45 seconds didn't discourage me, it rather made me want to work harder and compete against myself to be able to complete this fully. It's so important, especially in the gym, not to kick yourself when you find your weak spots but rather take it as a challenge for improvement 😁 
I plan not to give up and I'll share my progress with y'all 💕 For a full cardio session, I also added 10 mins of low intensity on the treadmill before and after and a bit of bis and tris! Save this for your next cardio session🙏🏽 #hiitworkout

What is Tabata?

▪️ One Tabata = 4 minutes (1 cycle)
.
▪️ Perform an #exercise (cardio activity) for 20 seconds as hard as you can go, then rest for 10 seconds.
.
▪️ Repeat this for 7 more times (using the same exercise or different #exercises making sure you are going as hard as you can for the full 4 minutes.
.
▪️ Perform as many cycles as you like. (I personally like doing 4 cycles which is 16 minutes and I include a 2-3 minute warm up and some #stretching afterward).

Feel free to come up with your own customized Tabata workout using these helpful tips:

☑️ Start by choosing your favourite exercises (I.e. #running, #jumpingrope, #burpees etc.). If you are new to #HIIT then I would suggest selecting exercises you feel comfortable performing and then as you progress you can gradually work in more challenging exercises.

☑️ Download an #interval timer. Trust me when I say - that what you think feels like 20 seconds when your working hard is probably more like 12 seconds!

☑️ Make sure you warm up for at least 2 -5 minutes before you start. Your body will thank you! (I like jumping rope as my warm up).
