Breakdown:

AMRAP - As Many Rounds As Possible, just keeping working through the workout throughout the duration of the time period. Your score will consist of number of round plus reps completed (ie 5 + 4). Bike Cal - A great way to test out your work capacity for the bike. Crank our the 25 calories then get straight into those pull-ups while your legs get a micro break.

Pull-Ups - These come as a nice little break to the leg intensive portion of the workout. With pull-ups using mainly upper body muscles for the movement you get a brief respite from biking each round.

Bra exempel på övning för att komma ingång med andning och bålkontakt efter förlossning. Ett plus är också att man jobbar med utsidan av rumpan, vilket kan stabilisera bäckenet. Detta kan dock vara knepigt om man är mycket instabil i bäckenområdet eftersom belastningen är tung på ena sidan. Seriously though, some mad flu symptoms is what can happen when you don't rest and you diet like shit for a couple of weeks.⠀

This was my first workout in a week because I was smashed by the flu and man it was tough.⠀

I was very stiff and the hips were tight throughout this drill, plus the heart rate was through the roof.⠀

Anyway, listen to your body.⠀
Eat the best you can, sleep well for 8hrs everynight and stay hydrated, your body will love it.⠀

Vad innebär då detta med “individualiserad kost” egentligen? Hur ska man tänka om generella råd (som t ex näringsdeklarationen på baksidan av en förpackning) bara kan svara för ungefär 40% av vad din kropp gör när du äter? Mitt råd är att föra en kostdagbok. Nu menar jag inte att man ska sätta sig ned och räkna kalorier för att hamna på ett underskott 🙄, utan en dagbok över vad du äter, vilka ungefärliga mängder (exempelvis “en skål keso”), och viktigast av allt: hur du mår! Faktorer såsom NÄR du åt, hur långt innan/efter träning, om du tränat eller försökt prestera (och hur det gick) bör också finnas med. Som ni hör är ju detta är inget tredagarsprojekt utan något man behöver göra över en längre tid, men om man skaffar sig tillräckligt med information om hur man äter och lever och hur man mår under tiden så kan man kanske hitta viktig information. Jag vet till exempel att jag inte mår så bra om jag äter efter 17. Detta har med min dygnsrytm att göra. Jag ska helst inte äta inom 1h innan eller 1h efter träning, för då blir jag trött och däst och träningen går sådär. Om jag äter en måltid med lite mer kolhydrater (t ex mer bär/frukt) på morgonen så är jag piggare och mår bättre under dagen. Mitt sista mål ska gärna innehålla mer protein och fett.

Dagens läsningstips från The Guardian handlar om kost-studien Predict, som går ut på att mäta tusentals personers kroppsliga reaktioner på olika livsmedel/måltidskompositioner med målet att lära sig hur olika individer svarar på olika koster/dieter. Predict är ett samarbete mellan King’s College London, Harvard medical schools och Stanford medical school. Preliminära resultat som precis har släppts är ganska enastående! De visar att olika individer kan ha enormt olika kropps-svar på exakt samma mat. De data de har tagit fram visar att innehållsförteckningen på ett livsmedel (det som finns på baksidan av förpackningen), bara kan svara för ungefär 40% av hur en individ svarar på intag av en viss måltid. Vad menar man då med kropps-svar? Till exempel har de mätt blodsocker. De tar ett exempel på en av försökspersonernas måltider, en lins- och baconsoppa som inte innehåller så mycket kalorier och som nog skulle klassas som “nyttig” av de flesta, men som ger försökspersonen förvånansvärt högt blodsocker efteråt. De har även tittat på hur försökspersonerna metaboliserar fett och kolhydrater, samt hur deras tarmflora ser ut.

AMRAP 15 min
10 step ups
10 burpees
10 pushups
10 burpees

Sätt en klocka på 15 minuter och gör så många varv du kan av ovan. Välj övningsalternativ som är utmanande men som ändå låter dig hålla dig i rörelse med god form genom hela 15-min intervallet. Om du måste vila, vila strategiskt! Korta vilopauser och mindre set gör passet mer effektivt. I step ups kan du minska belastningen genom att kliva upp på något mindre, ex vis ett trappsteg. I pushups, tänk på att hålla bålen rak (inget ormande, inga hängmattor!) och ha blicken snett framåt/nedåt så att nacken hålls neutral. I burpees kan du kliva upp och ned från marken om du inte vill eller kan hoppa. Happy training!

It’s a common occurrence; men behaving like jack-asses in the gym. Although well intentioned, we do it time and time again. Avoiding the stuff we should be doing and replacing it with the stuff we are already familiar with and good at. Bench press instead of push ups, lat pull down instead of pull ups, and majority of the work out doing what we can only see in the mirror (Chest, bi’s, and..more chest and bi’s). For the program this week, I got to talk to Greg Hammond from Concept2. Greg has been with Concept2 since 1996 and works very closely with the growing motocross and mixed martial arts markets as well as with CrossFit, Police and Fire departments, what he calls the cool kids.

Through the conversation, it was clear that Concept2 is not your typical corporation, and they do things the right way and on their own terms. That includes manufacturing every piece of equipment right here in the United State,  producing only products out of necessity for the hobbies they enjoy, and engineer equipment to be as bulletproof as possible. Additionally, If you ever have a problem with your erg and give them a call, you're going to get someone on the line who is located in Vermont and uses the ergs too and has probably been with the company a long time. All of these facts highlight the are deftly not a typical company.

During the show, you're going to hear how Greg's role in the marketing department doesn't include advertising. Rather than paying for adds, the company sends Greg out into the communities who use the equipment to connect and help support them.

Q&A: SHOULDN'T YOU DO MORE? -

Q: I've noticed in a lot of your posts that you often only do one or two work sets for an exercise Why? Shouldn't you do more? I've read that most bodybuilders do four or five sets per exercise. -

A: As Arthur Jones said: "You can train hard or you can train long, but you can't do both." Short and hard or long and not as hard both work. I love my high-intensity work, but I also recognize that gradually increasing volume is another form of overload that can result in more muscle (if you don't overdo intensity). It's a balancing act. -

Me? I'm about efficiency of effort in the gym. -

I want to build the most muscle in the shortest time with the shortest workouts possible. Why? Well, for one, I am more motivated and driven by high intensity. It's just more fun to me and the way I love to train. -

Two, I've always gotten my best results from low-volume, high-intensity training. -

But maybe most importantly, I need balance in my life. -

Life and time constraints often have me relying on tactics like drop sets and rest/pause, etc. for slight volume increases because they don't add a lot of time to the workout. And, quite frankly, I find these techniques can make a single work set as effective as two to four regular work sets. -

Now, do take note - - I don't only do 1 or 2 sets of an exercise in total. Those are just the sets that I count because they are my maximum, all out sets focused on progressive overload. I also do anywhere from 1 to 3 warm-up/acclimation sets for each exercise (depending on how heavy I'm going to go and how deep into the workout it lies). Even with that, the actual weight-lifting portion of my workouts only take about 40 minutes. -

If you have tons of time, good recovery ability and just love being in the gym, volume training is an option that can work. -

But if you're like me, you'll be drawn to ways that make your workouts more efficient and always evolving. That's what I'm all about—and why drop-sets and rest/pause techniques are a big part of my efficient fast-mass solution.

I really wish that women of the world could stop body shaming each other and yourself. My body shaming started when I was in high school. I had move towns and had to meet all new friends and it was tough. Someone told me that another girl was saying how big my arms are and that’s when my no eating and diet pills started. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Instead of talking bad about someone’s body how about we say how beautiful that person is from the inside out. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

❤️MY JOURNEY TO CONFIDENCE❤️ ⁣ ⁣

I used to struggle with my body image, and for years I tried to eat my emotions away… I struggled for years.⁣
⁣
When a bad relationship with food sticks with you for +20 years of your life, it begins to affect other areas of your life too... I felt the need to binge to try and make the pain go away but I knew how guilty I would feel afterwards and I knew that after so many years of neglecting my body that was time to make a change.⁣
⁣
I started focusing on my health when I was 18 years old.⁣
I starved myself for 3 months and lost +50 pounds.⁣
It was an exhausting and very dark time in my life. ⁣
One day I looked at myself in the mirror and I was mortified by what I saw.⁣
My uncle had mentioned that I looked emaciated… And he was right.⁣
I no longer looked like myself.⁣
That was when I really started from the bottom, and worked my way up.⁣
⁣
I started loving my body and treating it right because I knew it was capable of so much more than how I was treating it. ⁣
Fast forward some years and I started tracking my macros, learning about food, and then eating intuitively. ⁣
Once I started listening to my body and repairing my relationship with food, my results came QUICK... ⁣⁣
I started seeing MASSIVE changes in my body and mind, and that's what has kept my fire burning. ⁣
⁣
I've grown from the +160lbs down to the 120’slbs woman I am today…⁣ But the number on the scale does’t mean anything to me.⁣
I’m STRONGER, MORE CONFIDENT, AND HAPPIER in my own skin than ever before.⁣
If there’s one thing you could ask any of my clients about what I PREACH it would be this: ⁣
Forget the number on the scale. ⁣

Focus on ⁣
what fuels your fire ⁣

Mainly, the key reasons are:⠀
It’s safer than going fast⠀
It’s harder than going fast⠀
It’s more efficient than going fast⠀ ⠀
Going slow from a safety perspective probably seems like a no brainer, but the body really doesn’t want to go slow. It wants to conserve energy and go fast to use momentum and get it done. That’s where injuries happen.⠀ ⠀
Going slower is much harder than going fast because when you go fast you get the assistance of momentum. This momentum decreases the tension on the muscle and allows it to rest and conserve energy. This is exactly why people are swinging reps in the gym. Momentum in this case doesn’t help you. It holds you back.⠀ ⠀
When you go slow, the efficiency from an exercise perspective goes through the roof! We can first fatigue your slow twitch fibers, then the intermediate and then the fast. Why only get one type of fiber when you can get them all?

I don’t get to workout much when I travel to conferences. I did a longer high intensity workout a few days ago, but felt like doing some some short quick intervals at a high intensity today—I very rarely do two HIT sessions in the same week. Travel made this an exception. Yesterday was a low intensity run with a long stretch. Today was 25 min BOSU followed by 45 min TRX yoga. And I felt great! Some days, the training plan is simply to go with what feels good. 😉

Breakout:

Box Jumps - These get tougher as you progress since the other movements also include some elements of squatting so your legs get a real workout. Choose a height that's challenging but doable, we recommend the 24/20inch box heights.

Dumbbell Snatch - These alternate each rep between the arms and you want to stay explosive with your upward movement to the overhead position. We recommend 50/40lbs, but choose a good weight that challenges you but keep the quick pace.

American Kettle Bell Swing - These are a beast and it doesnt matter the weight is lowered, get a good full extension to the overhead position and maintain control. The weights are recommended at 35/25lbs respectively.
