This is my last week working at FluxFM.
LONG READ After 8 years working for Germany's best radio station, I decided to call it quits. No easy decision. I got the feeling I had mastered all the challenges my job could offer me about a year ago, but I did not dare to go. So convenient. A steady employment as a music journalist, health insurance and all, where does that happen these days? I was lucky enough to enjoy this and so many privileges for years, still the feeling grew that I needed new tasks. Alas, I'm a hungry and creative person. So... where to? How? What? With whom? The process I went through the last six months can only be described as one of the best periods of my life (yes, I'm going there). I got to experience so much love and support from my friends cheering me on, pep talking me, sharing their knowledge, identifying my (net) worth. Connecting me with people that could help me figure out what's next for me - which led to experiencing love and support from people I didn't know, people who offered their time and expertise to a stranger with nothing in it for them (Ewww, tearing up again as I'm typing this. If you have met up with me in the last months, rainbows and kittens shall plaster your way). And this was only the exterior change, let's not talk about my inner life, boost of confidence and #fuckyouimpostersyndrome . Jump and the net will appear, as they say. So I jumped and handed in my notice without having a new job (a very ungerman thing to do). And guys... the net. Beautiful, shimmering, thick roped net. I'm not pulling a Taylor Swift here saying "You can do everything, just believe in yourself." I worked hard for this, I gathered all the know-how and I built an incredible network without which I would be nothing. It feels like the most amazing pay-off. Now, what's next? I'm going to be a freelance *everything*, and there are amazing projects lined up already starting in july (that's next week, wtf, will tell you in good time). Worry not, I am super anxious. But also happy and ready. So yeah, if you wanna work with me or have cake during weekdays while other people sit in their offices, we can totally do that now. - 7 hours ago
