Pretty consistent speeds to my last run and I think I’ve found my comfortable run speed so may just end up being a slow 5k runner. I will now up my running time instead of speed 🏃🏻‍♀️ 🏃🏻‍♀️. There’s so much controversy at the moment regarding the B word. For years and years we’ve pushed the phrase “breakfast is the most important meal of the day” yet now, it’s getting a negative press.

For some people, they don’t even eat breakfast. I used to be one of them for a while! I often used to skip breakfast, eat a 300kcal lunch, drink around 6 coffees to curb my appetite then have my dinner in the evening. Yep I lost weight. Why? Because I was in a CALORIE DEFICIT. The magic words which equate to weight loss. .
Yes, adding breakfast on when you’ve never eaten it does equate to more calories = (possible) calorie surplus = weight gain. But does weight always equate to health? What about the other health benefits of eating breakfast (or, for the later risers, eating REGULARLY throughout the day)?

Breakfast helps replenish your energy stores lost during the night whilst your body keeps pumping and replenishing. It provides oh so important nutrients and energy for your mornings (brain power, walking, running... whatever you do!). And whilst breakfast alone doesn’t improve blood sugar control in diabetes, REGULAR eating patterns do! .
But it’s helping me loose weight? For one, just because you’re skipping breakfast, why don’t you look at the quality of your other meals? Are you missing out consuming any real food before 4pm just so you can binge on chicken nuggets and chips when you get home from work? Are you skipping breakfast for all the wrong reasons?

So all in all, if you’ve never eaten breakfast and you’re totally fine with it and it works for you then carry on with what makes you happy. But if you’re doing it for other reasons (weight loss/putting your body into starvation mode/because Facebook told you), then reevaluate - could breakfast be beneficial for me? .
No, breakfast isn’t the cure to world hunger or diabetes or any other problems in life. But EATING is important. Eating when you need to and eating because you’re hungry is so important. Don’t forget that! (FYI, granola with yogurt for breakfast (or a late night snack) is the absolute bomb😍) .

Today’s weather was mostly cold and fairly uninspiring so have a pic from the weekend when it was Sunday and I was out on a beach walk 🌞 —
I took today as a rest day with the weather and my body still being sore from yesterday’s weight session ✌️ Rest days are just as important as the days you train - HERE’S WHY
✅ Your body needs to recover: training consistently day in day out can place stress on your body and work against your goals ✅ Can help prevent injury: reduces over-use for all exercises including cardio training (running) or strength (weights) ✅ Avoid burnout & keep motivated: working out everyday can take away the enjoyment of the activity, shifting the focus from quality sessions to quantity, do your best during your training sessions and then have a day so your body has the chance to repair as well as your mind ✅ Can improve sleep: increased exercise can place your body into a state of alert, making it harder to fall asleep & sleep is definitely needed for general well-being so don’t skip this one!!
✅ A chance to see family and friends because life goes beyond the gym and gives you a chance to mentally recharge or attend social events —-

1 ikat besar kangkung
200 gram jamur kancing
4 siung bawang putih, cincang halus
1 siung bawang merah
1 buah besar tomat merah, iris
4 cabe rawit merah, iris
sejumput lada hitam, gerus kasar
sejumput seasalt
sedikit kecap
Sedikit air
Garam dan cuka apel untuk merendam
Secukupnya coconut oil untuk menumis
.
Cara membuat :
-Cuci kangkung dan jamur dengan rendaman garam dan cuka apel. Petik dan iris sesuai selera. Sisihkan.
-Panaskan wajan dan coconut oil, tumis bawang putih dan merah hingga wangi. Tambahkan cabe rawit dan lada hitam.
-Masukan jamur, sedikit air, batang kangkung lalu daun kangkung.
-Begitu mau matang, tambahkan seasalt, kecap manis dan irisan tomat. Koreksi rasa.
-Sajikan, paling enak dimakan hangat 😊
