At first, I started this health and fitness journey because I wanted to look good in a bridesmaid dress. I quickly learned that was not going to keep me motivated and I gave up for a while. What brought me back was remembering how I felt. This is what keeps me going now.

🥦 If possible, avoid the temptation to choose deep fried food because deep frying your food can increase the number of calories, saturated fat and trans fat. Fried foods do have a bad impact on health such as obesity.

Real talk. I brought my epsom salt and Panaway on vacation with me because I never get to soak at home and I’ve been pushing my body really hard. 
What I didn’t anticipate was that I was also going to have a DAY with my toddler. For the first time ever, I had to put all of our things back and walk out of a store. The hour leading up to bedtime, he could NOT HANDLE LIFE. I feel emotionally drained 🤷🏻‍♀️ There was a time when this feeling would have driven me to food or a monster glass of wine and I know that lots of you are probably going to think that I’m not doing that now because of “calories.” But the truth is, I don’t believe in medicating that way anymore. I believe wellness means taking care of your entire being, from the inside out. I don’t want to numb or feed my feelings away. I want to work through them and take care of them naturally.

So I grabbed my lavender and what was once going to be a soak that was solely for my body, is now equal parts body and mind. And I highly recommend it ❤️ Any other mamas out there have a tough day??

Went shopping at Kroger today and there were so many temptations. It was hard not to grab the sweets that were there but I kept repeating to myself that's not my end goal. My goal is to be healthy. Hopefully the temptation will get easier to handle. .

Having a highly functional immune system is dependent on sustaining a healthy gut, so any worsening of our digestive health means that our immune system is not as strong as it should be. Another HUGE reason to keep your gut health in check is that more than 90% of our body’s serotonin (important neurotransmitter that has a role in sleep, mood, temperature regulation, appetite, sex drive) is produced in our gut! If that’s not some good reasons to keep your gut health in check, then I don’t know what is 🤷‍♀️⠀

✅ Get enough sleep- Not getting enough sleep can have serious impacts on your gut health. In a small study the effects of partial sleep deprivation there was found to be a significant decrease in types of beneficial bacteria and a significant decrease in insulin sensitivity. ⠀

✅ Manage stress- You can eat all the healthy food out there, but if you’re eating a slice of stress every day then don’t count on your gut health improving. Chronic stress can suppress the immune system, decrease blood and oxygen flow to the intestines, and contribute to gut lining permeability. ⠀

✅ Eat fermented foods- These days you can find fermented foods such as miso, sauerkraut, and kimchi at most grocery stores. Fermented products that contain bacteria are an important source of nutrients and health-promoting bacteria for your gut. ⠀

✅ Eliminate added sugar- Sugar is baaad news for gut health. The overconsumption of sugar negatively impacts our gut bacteria which results in negative effects on your gut health. ⠀

✅ Eliminate alcohol- Yeah yeah yeah no one wants to hear this, but it is in fact true that the harm resulting from alcohol intake outweighs any benefit to heart health. Studies have shown that alcohol can cause inflammatory changes by weakening the structure of the gut lining itself! ⠀

Sloowwwww it downnn.  When training, try to slow down some of your movements.  This way you are giving your muscles time under tension and it will burn a whole lot more!! Take the muscle through its proper range of motion without using momentum and you’ll feel the difference instantly.  This form of training also improves neuromuscular control due to the intense concentration and focus on the muscles doing the work.

Try this out and see big gains!  When movements are slow, the muscle stay in its contracted position longer and will lead to increased gains💪

I've been doing this for awhile now and I've seen some major results. I'm in the fat loss category, so I primarily eat low carbs. I save my high carb days for leg day, when I'm working on my back, or when I've had a really intense HIIT session. I've been able to trim waist, while keeping & growing a booty lol

☀️I’m making today amazing, even if I was bummed out by my dumb apartments and their gym this morning (see my story for the story and some weird faces I make 😂). Deciding to take a rest day from the gym and just take it easy is sometimes hard for me to do, and sometimes not. Currently I want to be at the gym, but I know my body and I know that it needs a break from how hard I pushed it this week so far. AND THERES NO SHAME IN THAT, let’s make that clear. Don’t put yourself down for taking a rest day, it’s not necessarily healthy to push hard 6-7 days a week lol so take it easy on certain days. Now that doesn’t mean you give up, you still keep up with your nutrition, you still have that mindset from before, etc. Just never give up and give in

☀️ALSO, when thinking about your mindset and how you view your body and self-esteem. It’s important to NOT tell yourself “I just want to be skinny like her”. I see that SO often and it hurts my heart. People that have that mindset most of the time are not able to complete their goals, it’s more of a destructive thought. When starting your weight loss journey you should think hard about your “why”. My why is to be strong and healthy again. I want to have all those big muscles I had when I was a boxer and look super strong, and I want to be able to walk short distances without being completely out of breath lol. Telling yourself that you want to be super thin, or to look like someone else can hurt your mental health so much. Do it for YOU. Make a change because you want to be a healthier version of you 💖💖💖
