It is not my birthday until Tuesday the 19th but it any reason to cook for people is a perfect so I anticipated the the celebrations and hosted a little party at home yesterday. 
Thanks everyone for coming I had an amazing time. 🥰💚🥰 I'm really lucky to be surrounded by so many beautiful souls.
I know you all want the recipes of the food I prepared but it will be impossible to share it all at once, comment below the ones you want most and I'll be posting in order of the most requested.
I can anticipate that the Vegan 'cheese' bread that I shared the recipe a few weeks ago was elected one of the big yum😋 of the day.

I feel like it’s always nicer to look at a light, bright pic, but then there’s that internal pang when you are being authentic and then using a filter... and then I think, well what about when you have good lighting vs bad lighting 🤷‍♀️... so here’s both pics bright and light, and plain Jane. OMG THIS✨. How many times have you found yourself reacting to a particular situation in EXACTLY the same way, time and time again 🙈? Then, when you cool off from the emotional rush, you wonder “Why the eff can’t I break this pattern?! This isn’t who I want to be!”. 🤦‍♀️.

This is something that comes up a lot with disagreements or arguments. Maybe you’re the one who habitually storms off, or the one who loses their temper and says things they regret. Maybe you’re the one who stone walls, or the one who overreacts and obsesses over every detail in their head 🤯.

Patterns like these are ingrained, learned behaviours. They’ve developed over years of copying our parents or multiple rocky relationships, amongst other things.

💓 The good news is that we CAN unlearn these behaviours 💓.

I find that making the effort to PAUSE, observe, create space and let yourself feel your emotion without needing to ACT straight away, is a great way to avoid doing damage. It helps you avoid feeling that familiar sense of regret for emotionally hurting yourself or others 🥰.

In this SPACE, you can reflect on the physical and emotional experience you just had, and rationally think about where it is coming from. Then, you can come back to that conversation or interaction with an open heart, and greater compassion for yourself and the other 💞.

How much more productive would THAT conversation be? 💭.

#smallwins 👊🏼 Yes, this is me just a little while ago...finishing off both a scrumptious cupcake and the remnants of a most divine cake 🤷‍♀️. First off, I wasn’t a bit hungry and certainly didn’t need it, however that did not stop me from thoroughly enjoying it ✅.

Now for the celebratory part, sometimes indulging in a treat like this late on a Saturday night, would leave me feeling all - “what the hell, bring it on” eating all the “forbidden” foods I could find until I was incredibly uncomfortable 🙁.

So though this was a very unnecessary over indulgent amount of sugar✅...I’m feeling like a Hero 🏵 for being done when the cake was done✅.

Tomorrow my one and only daughter is 15 🎈🎈🎈

We celebrated today with family, she requested a cheese cake! Yes! So easy to make low in carbs.

This one was absolutely sensational. I made it yesterday - cheese cakes are always better the next day! The recipe came from @fooddreamer, and I used @rawearthsweetener.
.
For the berry glaze (yes which looks like tomato sauce 😋) I put 1 cup of berries, 1/4 cup water & 1/4 cup sweetener in a  saucepan and simmered until it was soft enough to whisk. I waited until it cooled to pour over the cake just before serving.

Sunday's are for self care & soul food &  call me basic but, bun-less beef burger with caramelized mushrooms & onions (INSIDE THE BURGER!!!!) + 👑 @perrysplate 's 15 min, marinated cukes speaks to my soul on the deepest of levels!

I mean, there's just something about a big ol' juicy burger - it's just so satisfying & adding those caramelized mushrooms, onions & pickled cukes take the experience to a whole new level!

I'm telling you, if you haven't put caramelized mushrooms onions IN (not just on) your burger then I'm sorry to say that you, my friend, have not lived! It’s ok though, until recently I hadn’t either 😘

Seriously, you neeeed in on this life changing deliciousness! .
Here's how you make em’ -

First we make our caramelized mushrooms & onions - .
🍯  I simply slice up some mushrooms & onions, tossing them in @niulife coconut ghee + S&P then roast @175'C/ 350'F for 20-30 ish mins, stirring occasionally until they were deliciously jammy & gloriously caramelized - you can do in a skillet/fry pan but I prefer this way. Less supervision required - set aside to cool slightly then add to your burger mix.

🍔 500g @cleaversorganicmeat  lean grass fed beef + garlic, onion pwd, S-&P + a spoonful of @meadowmarrowbonebroth for an extra dose of gut healing goodness , shape into 3-4 even size patties & cook in @niulife coconut ghee 👌🏻

🍃 Served on baby cos lettuce topped with
🥑 Smashed Avocado +
🍅 Sliced tomato +

Day 17 💛 Forgiveness 💛 .

. 💛 Forgive others 💛 Forgive yourself 💛 Forgiving others doesn’t excuse their behaviour, it prevents their behaviour from destroying your heart. 💛 Forgiveness is a gift, you get to give to yourself. It's giving yourself permission to move on. 💛 By not allowing yourself to forgive you are holding yourself back from being the best version of yourself. 💛 Forgiveness was something I learnt a long long time ago because the old version of me back then would have just filled up with resentment, held onto it kept retelling the story and letting it fester inside me so that all I was ever feeling with was hate and anger and in a split moment I decided that I no longer wanted to continue feeling that way. I no longer wanted to continue giving permission externally over myself and the emotions that came up. So at that moment, I chose to forgive the 'perpetrators' and forgive myself. ☺️ IT FELT AMAZING! 💛 One thing I didn’t learn back then was a second part of the forgiveness process and that was to look for the lesson that was trying to be presented to me in the form of; where did I need to heal, or where did I need to let go of old conditioning, old patterns, old beliefs. 💛 It wasn’t until the last couple of years that I realise that I was not completing the process and so these patterns that I was continually forgiving people for happening in my life keep showing up again and again and again. It wasn’t until I decided to look inside, at what this was trying to tell me because I got so sick of going through the same thing over and over again - relationships (romantic or not), family career, experiences. It was all and always will be a lesson every single thing 💛 So what I want to share with you is that forgiveness begins as a two-part process. If you’re wanting to heal yourself it starts with forgiving yourself and forgiving others and then seeking the lesson, looking where you need to heal, looking at what you need to let go of, or where you need to shift -  so that you can start being the best version of yourself and levelling up * continued in comments *

The chilly, rainy days are still here so I’m making one of my go-to favorites—cauliflower mashed potatoes! This recipe keeps me warm and happy on cold days! I like cooking with cauliflower because it’s a low-carb and high-fiber alternative to potatoes and grains but it’s also delicious and something new! Plus, it’s a veggie and it’s good to find sneaky ways to add those!

Here are the ingredients:

8 cups cauliflower (about 1 large head)
4 cloves garlic, crushed and peeled
1/3 cup nonfat buttermilk (see Tip below)
4 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil, divided
1 teaspoon grass fed butter
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
Freshly ground pepper to taste
Snipped fresh chives for garnish

Directions:

Place cauliflower and garlic in a steamer basket over boiling water, cover and steam until very tender, 12 to 15 minutes. (Or, place florets and garlic in a microwave-safe bowl with 1/4 cup water, cover and microwave on High for 3 to 5 minutes.) Place the cooked cauliflower and garlic in a food processor. Add buttermilk, 2 teaspoons oil, butter, salt and pepper; pulse several times, then process until smooth and creamy.  Transfer to a serving bowl. Drizzle with the remaining 2 teaspoons oil and garnish with chives. Serve hot.

Notes: No buttermilk? You can make “sour milk”: mix 1 tablespoon lemon juice or vinegar to 1 cup almond milk.

Who doesn’t love an adventure packed morning ! This morning we woke up at 5am to head into Auckland City to watch the sunrise 🌅 getting up and doing something outdoors and active is part of our Sunday routine, it’s not always that early but we love starting our day with getting out and exploring new places and doing things that get us out of the house 💁🏼‍♀️.

.After watching the sunrise at One Tree Hill and looking out at the stunning city views , we headed into Ponsonby , had matcha lattes and got a couple of  #limescooter s to have a bit of a ride around 😆😆 .
