105kg for some sangles followed by dropsets of 12 at 70kg.
No glute or back discomfort but definitely getting used to my hips in a different position.
Real fired up over having a new challenge on my plate.

In the last 6 weeks I have had the opportunity to do so many amazing races. I have been pushed out of my comfort zone, questioned if I can do it, fallen down, gotten back up, cramped so hard I didn’t think I could keep going, hallucinated from being so dehydrated & hungry, rolled my ankles way to many time, sat on top of my sandbag at 5 am and cried while eating a cliff bar & crossed every one of those finish lines with a smile on my face knowing all of the pain, suffering and hard work was worth it. I would be out there in every race and tell myself, if I don’t do this, this whole year of training was pointless. No matter how much it hurt or how badly I wanted to quit, I knew I was better than that and I kept pushing forward to fight through every obstacle & every km telling myself I could do it, no excuses, you earned this. I am thrilled with the outcome of all of these races & can’t wait for the next ones. 🔥

THE RACES:
•
I ran the Calgary half marathon for my second time, managing to knock 24 minutes of my previous time. •
•
I raced at my second ever OCR race and first ever 6 hour Titan and came 1st in my age group. •
•
I ran my second 12 hour Black Ops, i ran the whole thing with a 40lb sandbag and landed back up on the podium in 3rd place. •
•
This is only the beginning, I have 5 more races/competitions coming up this season and I cannot wait to see how much I have improved, and what new limits I can push myself too.

A huge thank you to my coach @optimum_performance_training for being the best coach, programming genius workouts and being there for whatever I need! I couldn’t have got this far without you! & a huge thank you to my @lululemon fam for encouraging me to crush my goals. & of course to all my OCR friends & @yycruncrew friends. This was not a solo adventure & I am so fortunate to have this many people pushing me forward.

Here’s an update on my Big Beautiful Woman Client, @lindaarroz  We have been working hard on correcting her natural tendency to sit round shouldered with a forward head. (She sits a lot in front of a computer). Spine Stretch on the Cadillac, as I learned it from my mentor, Kathy Grant, is a great way to integrate Linda’s proprioception: “what IS the correct upper back, neck and head position, and can she find it again each time she moves?” Remember that adjusting eye focus is a key component in correcting upper body alignment, as the brain must retrain the eyes to focus straight ahead in the corrected posture.

Deload week is here, and my body is saying thank you.  I still plan on pushing the accessories a bit, but I will be cutting intensity on my primary lifts.  By the end of last week, I was certainly feeling the fatigue.  Still, I enjoyed active recovery this weekend with my first (and second!) bike rides in over a year.  I used to really enjoy biking, but I got away from it as I got older, busier, and more invested in powerlifting. 210x5 top set for squats. Figuring this new stance out. A little more forward lean, a little less knees forward. Still missing depth on some reps but sinking it on others. We'll get there. Up to 2x5 weighted pullups! Maybe one day I'll get up to 3x10 with these too. .

It’s almost that time. I’ve got my peak week macros, workouts and cardio. I’m so ready to show off all this hard work. 6 days out from @nff_lonestar_muscle_mayhem and 34 days out from @thesupershow_nff 💪🏻 I’ve been in this prep since January 7th. This body isn’t something that happened from a detox, weekly challenge or monthly challenge. I’ve been consistent with my diet, my workouts and cardio. It’s had its ups and downs. More ups than downs. My mentality has been more positive than negative. Of course there’s days that test my patience and energy levels. But you know what? A support system is also very important. First I want to say to my husband, @baggystl you have been a huge supporter of this. You have hugged me when I felt like crying, done house chores to allow me to rest, cooked food for me when I was in my way home and have been the most amazing husband ever. ❤️ I love you and can’t wait to go on dates again with you. 😘 next, 
@abs_fitness_cpt (coach: @alex_keller7 , friends and posing coaches: @fitbuffy23 @emilyfit4life ) y’all are beyond amazing. Y’all have been the little scientists behind this machine I’ve cut down too. Y’all have pushed me to be stronger than I have ever (not now tho. Ha. I’m a weakling) Alex, you have watched me crush workouts, cry after 100 barbell thrusters and listen to my complaints when the prep brain fog set in. Beth and Emily, y’all are seriously amazing friends. In this prep my goofy ass has slowly become this boring monotone resting bitch face chick. I’m sorry for my short tempers and not so chatty attitude. I love y’all so much.

Perform each of the exercises for the required repetitions, and then perform the associated sprint.

For example: you will perform 10 reps for each of the exercises and then sprint 100 yds.  Next, 9 reps for each exercise and then 90 yes, and so on until you reach the bottom of the ladder.👊🏼

Deadlifted for the first time in 3 weeks as prescribed by my doctor.  He suggested pulling from blocks to reduce the ROM off the floor.  My gym doesn’t have blocks, but it does have bumper plates.  We only have cast iron plates at home, so deadlifting at the gym made more sense.  Did a solid 4x6 with light weight.  I felt a slight pull on my left (weaker) side but no pain during the movement or the following day. 👍 Pulling from closer to the floor seems to be the issue.  I have incorporated RDLs 2x/week and hamstring curls 1x/week to strengthen my posterior chain.  I’ll deadlift again next week and see if there’s any difference.  For now, I’m pretty happy with this small improvement.

So idk why, but the last few months I've had 1 too many people ask to feel my arms to "see if they were soft". First of all unless you're my coach...hands off and mouth shut. Second, I'm 200lbs so there's not too much definition going on anywhere lol and Third... Super fun and successful day at my first AAPF meet-Utah Summer Classic with @fortheloveoftheiron.  Increased my overall total 27#, PR-ing in both bench and deadlift (143#/254#) and met some awesome people in my new hometown, SLC. 🙌🏼

Another cool thing about doing this meet, was that I got to train and compete on equipment that was not usual for me.  Going outside my comfort zone, learning, and taking risks -not getting stuck in the same routine-are key to evolve as an athlete.

Maybe it was the 11 hours of sleep I actually got.  Or the loads of pitty carbs I had the night before.  Or the 55 degree weather in the canyon.  Or that I had to get it in before my night shift.  Mostly I think it’s the training and even though it was supposed to be an easy run/hike for 9 miles with good vert, I felt great and went for it.  And, the thing is, it felt easy.  And I had 8 segment PRs on the route. Your body is not for everyone.

Sounds weird, right?

The idea of self love has become huge over the last year or so- which is great.

We all want to feel happy in our body- physically and emotionally.

But what do you do on the days where the opinions of others really start to impact how you feel about yourself?

Honestly, there isn’t an easy answer and this post isn’t about self love.

Read this again:

Your body is not for everyone.

Over the last 10 years, I have created the body I currently call home and for the first time, I’m happy with it.

Not because of its size, but because of what it can do, how I’ve learned to accept it, fuel it, and train it.

In this body, that I truly feel happy with, these things have been said to me:
-
“You’re too skinny.”
-
“You’re too muscular.”
-
“You are too serious about fitness.”
-
“Do you still have an eating disorder?”
-
“Your hands are so rough, are those callouses?!”
-
“Wow, you eat a lot of carbs, you’re going to gain weight.”
-
“I don’t like to squat too often, I don’t want my legs to get big- but it’s a great look for you, you know???”
-
“You eat way too much for someone your size.”
-
Listen.

You cannot control what someone else is going to think about your body.

That may feel frustrating.

But let it sink in.

Isn’t it kind of relieving?

YOU have no control over how someone else feels about your body.

But YOU control how YOU feel about your body.

It’s okay to want to change it-this doesn’t mean you hate your body.

But no matter how you feel about your body, not everyone will feel the same.

And that’s okay.
