When I heard about the Icelandic tomato farm with a full tomato themed menu I was intrigued. Then I heard “Bloody Mary” and I was sold.
They use piped geothermal water to heat the greenhouse & enough electricity to power a town of 3000 inhabitants (lucky it’s cheap, green geothermal energy). Oddly though they only grow three varieties of tomato here: “classic”, Roma & plum, but only feature 2 of these on the menu (IMO, they’ve missed a trick here, if you are going to be tomato specialists, offer more than 3 stock standard tomatoes). A sweet & simple bottomless tomato soup & plenty of fresh, soft bread is served buffet style. I’m not sure what they’ve done to the Bloody Mary but I wish they stuck to the classic recipe. And @benjaminpresland wait till you see what they’ve done to the coffee. ️🥫 Still, the high wattage Chinese restaurant-esque fluorescent lighting made me feel right at home.
