What do you do with the first 3️⃣0️⃣ minutes of your day??
My days always started in chaos.
I snoozed the alarm FAR too many times (5 more minutes, I’ll work out later. 3 more minutes, I’ll just pull my hair back. 2 more minutes, I’ll buy lunch today). The first thing I’d do when I opened my eyes was check in on work - emails, messages, to-dos, etc.
When I finally (begrudgingly) got out of bed it was GO GO GO from the second my feet touched the floor. Stress and anxiety seemed to follow me through my day...
How did today start for you?
Did you start by opening emails and getting stressed?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Did you snooze the alarm, dreading the day ahead?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Did you immediately jump into GO mode?
Now, more often than not, I sit quietly in the morning in a calm and reflective state. I journal, I read, I set goals, I drink warm lemon water and I meditate. It’s peaceful. It’s purposeful. The time is MINE - it doesn’t belong to anyone else. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🔆How would it feel if you started your day like that? Here’s how I did it: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
️ I wanted to buy myself and extra 30 minutes each day, so I started setting my alarm five minutes earlier every three days for a few weeks to ease myself into a new normal. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
️ I started changing the “label” on my alarm each night before bed to say something motivational or inspirational that I knew would get me out of bed the next morning.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
️ I disabled the snooze. I get one alarm and GET UP.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
️ I moved my books, planner and other things I wanted to include in my morning routine downstairs AWAY from my bed so I had to go to them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
️ I enforced a new rule: no emails or work messages/to-dos until after my lemon water is done. No negotiations. I actually turn my email off before bed and don’t turn it back on until it’s time.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
️ One more rule: planner before phone. No true blue phone time (turning off the alarm doesn’t count) until I’ve written my intentions, affirmations & goals for the day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
