To The Bone
|Snap. Check the digital picture. Did it come out right? Wow.| All who have even the most minute interest in photography would go through that sequence. It’s a ritual, something we MUST do to ensure we captured something brilliantly beautiful. How much editing? Am I telling a story? Will they..like it?
I didn’t find this specimen in the woods. I don’t hunt. It wasn’t an incredible discovery. I did see through the image, though. Through the digital screen, the musty light, the curdled anxiety of a potential post. No, it wasn’t death. It wasn’t life, either. It was the banal reality of what we define as ‘raw’. Seeing something for simply what it is. Musty, old, brilliant. Right to the bone. - 3 hours ago
