Barbell rows with a supinate grip- Hold a barbell with an underhand grip (supination). Bend the knees, push the hips back and lean forward with the torso. Try to be in a 45° angle or more. With the chest out and back straight, row the barbell to your navel in a controlled movement.

💪🏽Warms ups are vital and should never be skipped. The whole physiological premise of stretching is to increase the tissue temperature, which has been shown to decrease risk of injury (Fradkin et al., 2006). As well as this Fradkin (2010) conducted a meta-analysis of 32 studies looking at warming up and performance. They found that warming up increased performance in 79% of the criterions examined✅

🤸🏻‍♂️Behm et al., (2011) performed a review on the effects of dynamic and static stretching on performance. They found that static stretching had significant impairments to performance, while dynamic stretching was shown to have no effect or augment subsequent performance. They also went on to state that static stretches lasting <30s per muscle "may not negatively impact subsequent performance". Static stretching should be performed along with dynamic and always before it (Taylor et al., 2008)✅

🔥As well as this I feel that a quick bout of self-myofascial release (foam rolling) is beneficial. MacDonald et al. (2013), found that it increased ROM without a subsequent decrease in muscle activation or force✌🏽

People always say I probably have small legs because I have a bigger upper body. In February I snapped my Achilles in half and couldn’t do anything with legs for almost 4 months. Well this is how they look now as of yesterday. You can do bench press for days and days and days; however, to develop your overall appearance and to develop the strength of your overall body, you need to train the functioning muscles that the bench press utilizes to help you complete the movement. This is part of having a strong kinetic chain.
.
Have you ever heard the term in team sports, “We’re as strong as our weakest link.”? Same applies for your muscles. If one muscle is weak in the lift, it’ll impact your performance. Therefore, we must make sure everything is up to par.
.
I won’t mention too much chest training here because it should be obvious that you should incorporate it into your routine. However, the exercises listed incorporates some chest work to help you develop your bench press.
.
Bench press utilizes your chest, but also requires a bunch of assistance from the shoulders, triceps, and lats. You can have the strongest chest in the world, but say your triceps are weak AF, don’t expect to have much pushing power in your bench press. This is why its IMPERATIVE to train everything to have a strong kinetic chain!
.
Triceps: Adding floor presses will help you with this. When people fail a 1RM on bench press, it’s usually at the top part. Floor presses address this and will help develop your tricep power. Incorporate paused reps to really increase your strength.
.
Shoulders: Also a very important muscle to used during bench presses. Overhead pressing IS A MUST!! Keep the shoulders in front of you and narrow grip on the initial movement to help your shoulders out. Arnold presses help this as it pushes from a position with your elbows in front of you. Incline your chair a bit as our bodies aren’t designed to go straight up and down.

Lats: If this goes out on your bench press (usually because your lats are weak), then the triceps and the rest of your muscles are soon to follow. Add in some leaning lat pulldowns which simulates essentially a reverse bench press. Go get to work!

Both are misguided interpretations of nutrition and unjustified advice. Overall speaking.

Protein is important for muscle gain, yes! But more important is being in an energy surplus. Aka calories are crucial for gains. Protein won't help build mass if energy is too low. -
So NO ... protein shakes in of itself is not the elixir to building lean muscle. It's simple a way to get more protein in.

As for the weight loss theory. It works on the premise that replacing a meal with a shake will create an energy deficit. Which is in fact correct. But protein shakes aren't magically fat burners or some shit.

You could get the same result through a calorie controlled meal (and likely more satisfying). If you've ever tried a shake diet you'll know how unfun it is ... especially long term haha

So now onto what protein shakes are good for (and should be used for):
✔️ Topping up protein intake if you've not met your target for the day
✔️ Quick meal when you're on the go
✔️ Post workout if you can't stomach solid foods
✔️ Those with very high protein requirements may need it
✔️ Want a high protein lowish calorie snack
