Who’s working on a skill at the moment? Struggling? Can you believe it took me over a year to master this? -
😤There were times I wanted to give up, there were times were I actually did give up/forget about them for weeks on end😅 I completely misjudged how long it would take me to get it (2months was my original target 🤣) and it’s still not 100% where I want it to be. The thing that kept me going back was simply reminding myself of the little bits of progress I was making each week & and how cool it would be when I actually did it!

😩 Here’s the thing... Too many of us expect results to happen overnight. Fact of the matter is, sustainable results with ANYTHING take TIME. -
💁🏽‍♀️ Whether that be conditioning your body to master a brand new skill, sculpting your physique to build muscle/loose body fat, improving your general fitness... IT’S A LONG BLOODY PROCESS!🥵

BUT☝️ that process is what is going to help you learn how to recover from mistakes, learn how to be patient, learn how to progress in other areas of your health/fitness/life, and most importantly, will be WAY more rewarding than if you were to learn something over night!👏🤩

[SINGLE LEG STABILITY ]
.
There are 2 significant  reasons why athletes and average joes are hurting their knees:
.
1️⃣ Undertrained hamstrings
2️⃣ Lack of single leg training.
3️⃣ Sagittal plane training only. .
Hamstrings are crucial for acceleration and preventing excess forward translation of the tibia/shin (which is a common contribution to anterior knee pain). .
✔️Intervention: Load the Hams! .
Fact: 40% of our waking cycle is spent on a single leg. That number increases to 60 to 70% when we transition to running and sprinting!
.
✔️Intervention: incorporate single leg exercises, especially with dynamic hip flexion/extension movements.
.
Being on a single leg immediately loads the hip in the lateral plane. We would also appreciate controlling rotational forces as well. Strictly walking, leg pressing, squatting, or relying on weight machines is not the best recipe for preventing or alleviating knee pain.
.
✔️Intervention: load the knee with lateral and rotational movements.
.
Appreciate some of these exercises which address the above interventions! Knee pain is common, but appropriate loads without overload will frequently lead to positive adaptations!

There are good days in training and then there are bad days. Some days, everything connects well (mentally + physically), some days you are just clueless as to why nothing seems to click.

Embrace both kind of days with open hands.
