"Arizona Baby" - Kevin abstract
Arizona Baby is similar to a stock market chart, It has its highs but as well as it’s lows.
Now as i’ve reviewed both Arizona and Ghetto i’m not going to go as detailed into the songs but more focus on the album as a whole. Now on my first listen to Arizona i was more so on the edge, It was average. On the other hand i absolutely loved Ghetto Baby and thought it had Kevin’s best work to date however i noticed a problem with the music on Arizona and Ghetto: They seemed to conflict like different genres. Because of the EP roll out they all seemed more like a movie trilogy and it affected my listen immensely.
With Arizona i feel that its “above average” it’s not amazing as a whole but not bad. The first few songs were a decent listen, the second few songs were amazing but the last few were disappointing in my eyes. I feel like after the mid section of the tracks it goes down hill but closes pretty solidly.
Kevin seems to have improved his rapping and producing. His rapping was where it lacked for me in American Boyfriend as i deemed it to be a “Constant rapping about the same things” Kevin still doesn’t shy away from his rapping about being gay or his relationship but on Arizona he strays away and opens his lyrical ability best shown on the track “Corpus Christi”
Some of the standouts in the album were: Georgia, Boyer, Corpus Christi, Peach and my favourite track now, Baby Boy. There’s a similarity here. You can split the tracks into two, the “Experimentation ones” - Georgia and Baby boy and Peach or the “Improved rapping ones” - Corpus Christi and Boyer.
On tracks like peach I love how he still uses his Brockhampton crew and others to make the track really pop for me
Overall Arizona baby is a improvement from his previous album however cannot stand alone

Earl Sweatshirt (imo) is one of the best rappers out. He is so far from what anyone else sounds like, so he automatically stands out. I’ve always had mad respect for Earl because he’s never tried to please the public eye, he is a great example of just staying in your lane and perfecting your craft. Cant wait for whatever Earl gives us next.

“I didn’t want to wake up. I was having a much better time asleep. And that’s really sad. It was almost like a reverse nightmare, like when you wake up from a nightmare you’re so relieved. I woke up into a nightmare”. - 2 months ago
