15/30. #Alcoholdesignchallenge . For the next 30 days I am designing alcohol packaging concepts everyday. I will only have few hours to come up with the name, story, branding and design for each alcohol. I will try to be accurate with the information about each type of alcohol, where it comes from, alc content etc.
#Cognac is a variety of brandy named after the town of Cognac, #France . Among the specified grapes Ugni blanc, known locally as Saint-Emilion, is most widely used. The #brandy must be twice distilled in copper pot stills and aged at least two years in French oak barrels from Limousin or Tronçais. Cognac matures in the same way as whiskies and wine barrel age, and most cognacs spend considerably longer "on the wood" than the minimum legal requirement.
Mousquetaire (The Musketeer) is a cognac dedicated to the French musketeers. The Musketeers of the Guard were a junior unit, initially of roughly company strength, of the military branch of the Royal Household or Maison du Roi. They were created in 1622 when #LouisXIII furnished a company of light cavalry with muskets. Musketeers fought in battle both on foot as infantry and on horseback as dragoons. At the Battle of Fontenoy in 1745 the King's Musketeers served as regular cavalry, charging British infantry with drawn swords.
The motto is: All for one, and one for all. Divided we fall, united we stand.
Mousquetaire cognac is an XO (Extra Old) or Napoléon currently designates a blend in which the youngest brandy is stored for at least six years.
