This post is going to be a long one - we are going to do a full review of the Charlie and The Chocolate Factory Afternoon Tea. Now we went here around 2 years ago so the menu has changed.
We also didn’t take the best of photos back then 😮 so we’ve borrowed the first image. 📸 Photo credits to: @onealdwychhotel 📸
We went for the Vegetarian menu, but they do also have a Vegan menu and a Gluten-Free menu! .
Let’s start with the savoury sandwiches..which were beyond exceptional. Now normally when you see the substitutes that are the vegetarian options in afternoon tea menus, they aren’t always the best options. However, this place had really amazing sandwiches!
So the options we had on our menu were (from left to right in picture 2):
Winter Vegetable Wellington
Leek walnut & Montgomery cheddar quiche 🧀
Cucumber and chive creme fraiche on tomato bread 🥪
Cheddar cheese and homemade chutney on wholemeal bread 🥪
Egg mayonnaise with watercress in a Brioche bun 🥯
All of these sandwiches were simply amazing. They were freshly made, and you could tell by the ingredients, and the bread was so soft it almost just melted in your mouth. They were also all really light, but full of flavours!
Once we had finished with the savoury items, we were asked if we wanted another round 😮 and if not..then it is onto the sweet dishes!
So the sweet items..which honestly is the most exciting and anticipated part of an afternoon tea (for us anyway)! Whilst these options were all amazing, there are a lot and you do need a good sweet tooth to get through them!
The options we had on our menu were:
Golden chocolate egg 🥚 filled with vanilla cheesecake and mango - this was exceptionally yummy, but it was a little on the ‘too sweet’ side!
Chocolate caramel milk 🥤- I fell in love more with the cute little glass bottle they were presented in, but aside from the bottle, the chocolate caramel milk was really smooth, and just the right amount of sweet!
