Summers can be extremely debilitating unless you try and find a way to keep up with the right diet. A famishing day is no less than a vexing nightmare.
Wandering through the streets of Gokulam, I came across the cafe Depth ‘n’ Green, a vegan/vegetarian cafe. My first impression of the cafe was mediocre but I did tend to like its decor. One of the beguiling things about the cafe is the various vegan options it has, be it the herbalicious drink or gluten free food for a healthy regime, the place has it all.
I had an amiable conversation with the owner of the cafe Usha Mishra who kind of questioned my blogging skills for being an amateur in the blogging world but little does she know that I don’t have to be Mr Gordon Ramsay to be an epicure and write about it.
My first order, the chocolate chip cookie made from white flour and dried coconut did look bland but tasted fine, although it would have tasted better if it was a little more sugary.
My next try was the Power Smoothie made from banana, walnuts, dates, yogurt, and organic honey blended together for a power packed punch. The walnuts as garnish gave the smoothie a bitter taste but once I was done eating all the walnuts I could enjoy it.
The final order was the Vegan Omelette, a lentil flour crepe stuffed with an assortment of veggies, fresh herbs, and spices, served with the house made beetroot salad.
My experience with this one was a little nauseating as the surplus turmeric in the flour crepe made the food repugnant. At first I thought it was just me since I had tasted only the floured layer so I decided to dig in through the omelette where I found broccoli, tomato, onion, carrots, cashews, ginger, and other herbs, all salubrious.
The veggie omelette tasted the same with or without the veggie layer, but the beetroot salad on the side was alluring as it was simply grated and put in a bowl and didn’t claim to be anything else.
If you are looking for a wholesome veggie combo and just that, then this could be an amazing place to experience the ‘herbie:fully loaded'! (Check the link in the bio for the complete blog)
