RECOVERY FUELING - @that.dood.caffrey knows what’s up. When you’re sick, injured or just working with a heavy training load, are you fueling enough? Your body needs extra nutrients to rebuild & recover. This is not the time to skip meals. ⠀
•⠀
Personally, I can always eat 🤷🏻‍♀️; it’s a special talent I have. ☺️✌🏼 But many of my clients just aren’t hungry when they don’t feel well, or they get nauseated after a heavy-duty workout (side note: this is very often a result of poor HYDRATION 💦 & ELECTROLYTE REPLACEMENT during the workout, so pay attention to that first).⠀
•⠀
If you don’t naturally gravitate toward food when ill, injured, or training heavy, here are a few tips:⠀
➡️ PLAN your meals and snacks. This can mean scheduling WHEN to eat, or planning WHAT to eat. ⠀
➡️ Choose “easy” foods such as 🍌, 🍎, 🍚, 🍞. (The B.R.A.T. Diet - bananas, rice, apples, toast - has been debated, but I’ve found that for most people it’s easy on the gut and PSYCHE when they simply don’t feel like putting food into their belly.)⠀
➡️ If you can tolerate eating PHYSICALLY while ill/injured/training heavy but have a PSYCHOLOGICAL aversion to eating at that time (“I just don’t FEEL like eating anything!”), aim for high-energy, low-volume foods to get calories in with minimal effort. This can be peanut butter 🥜, cheese 🧀, dried fruit 🍒, seeds...⠀
➡️ Add in favorite treats to make the process more enjoyable while you’re recovering. @that.dood.caffrey hasn’t been loving his breakfast and dinner since the car accident, so we’ve been giving him lots of “extras” like his favorite mango 🥭 and some peanut butter. ⠀

This summer has been amazing! We have traveled, ate, drank, enjoyed friends and family and made memories! In the past, summers would sometimes stress me out because it would take me out of my comfort zone with not eating my “normal” foods and exercising ever day.

It has not been easy to get to this place and I’m still not totally perfect at it....but I am realizing that life is about enjoying all of these things in life, staying active, putting food in my body that I know won’t make me feel crappy (minus the yummy pizza and ice cream on occasion) and being present with my family.

I used to think I would lose all of the progress I made...not true! This is me this morning after traveling for almost 11 straight days this month. .

Eat the cake, enjoy your friends/family and then get back on track when you can!

I think at some point the choice is up to you. You can follow a million instagram accounts, find workouts, apps, and even post a million food options, but if you’re not ready to change your lifestyle forever, then it’s not going to happen. .

It’s automatic now that when people go out to eat with me, they know that it has to be somewhere “Amber can eat” because they know I’m dedicated to my lifestyle. At first it bothered me because I didn’t want to be a pain in someone’s neck, but now I just OWN it, YEAH, this is my lifestyle! .

If you’re ready for change, then know that you have to sign up for a lifestyle change. You can still enjoy going places with family, but let them know you’re watching what you’re eating, they will understand! Or maybe your family doesn’t eat what you do, so make your own meal and modify it for you!!

I’m loving 🥰 berry season and since had a ton of blueberries my protein banana bread 🥖 got an upgrade y’all!! 💕😋 And lets be honest no one gets sick of banana bread!! 🍌 😎⁣

Not only does this bread have healthy fats, antioxidants, but also protein, collagen & fiber! ❤️ Which makes this bread also a great source of potassium, magnesium, and B vitamins ! 🙌🏼😻 Plus the glaze in here is divine!! 🌈✨⁣

Blueberry Banana Bread 🍞 🍌 💙⁣

Ingredients:⁣

- 3 mashed ripe Bananas 🍌 ⁣
- 1.5 cups fresh blueberries ⁣
- 1 cup @bobsredmill almond flour⁣
- 3 eggs 🥚 ⁣
- 1 scoops @questnutrition vanilla protein powder ⁣
- 1 scoop @vitalprotein vanilla collagen powder⁣
- 1 tsp. Vanilla extract ⁣
- 1 tsp baking powder ⁣
- 1 tsp baking soda⁣
- 1 tbsp cinnamon ⁣
- 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice ⁣
- 1/2 @silk unsweetened cashew milk⁣
- 1/4 tsp Himalayan sea salt ⁣

Lemon Glaze 🍋 🍯⁣

Ingredients:⁣
- 1 lemon zested and juiced 🍋 ⁣
- 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder ⁣

Glaze Directions: Mix all ingredients until smooth and drizzle over cooked banana bread! ⁣

Banana Bread Directions:⁣
1. Mash bananas add egg, vanilla and spices.⁣

Well hello fam!🤩😍👋 It’s Check in day✔️⚖️ Up less than a half pound for the week, which I gladly accept, considering I didn’t track ❌Saturday at all. I ate 🍟 twice, had a delicious Jack Daniels glazed grilled chicken sandwich on an Asiago Focaccia bun🤤 for lunch, (omg it was🔥), and ate an INCREDIBLY delicious shaved prime rib 🥩sandwich with grilled mushrooms 🍄 & onions on the most delicious buttery ciabatta bread 🥖 EVER for dinner Saturday night. I did skip my usual #macrocap 🍰🧁which saved me a ton of macros, and drank lots of water 💦 along with a few very light macro friendly beers 🍻hello Bud Select 55👋👌. I’m really loving these sober/no hangover ❌😵 vacations🤗. Life truly has been amazing and WAY more enjoyable these last several months. .

The annual challenge 🌈🏆 who’s game?💪🏻 . . Last years hashtag was #TasteTheRainBowL ; this year it’s the #TasteTheRainbowChallenge 🌈🏆 . . Fruit/veg/fibre intake isn’t ideal in the Western world (plant based peeps- you’re doing great!🎖) so the idea behind the challenge is to encourage consumption of fibre and nutrient dense foods🍎🥝🍅🥒🍓🌽 - and variety! . . Our taste buds CHANGE! So just because you didn’t like [insert fruit/veg] when you were little, doesn’t mean you won’t now. Be an adult and get tasting 😝 . . I couldn’t have cucumber anywhere near my plate up until recently and the sight of olives made me sick 🤢 . Now (thanks, in part to gin 😝) I can eat cucumbers and love olives! Same with kiwi 🥝- now eat it no bother! . . Sooo I’m challenging YOU to try something you haven’t had in ages/EVER!! . .
