Today I finished my 8 Week Lift & HIIT program for the 4th time. ~
To be honest the visual changes from after the previous 2 round aren’t that much but I’m definitely feeling stronger. Resting less, lifting heavier and pushing harder for longer.

A) Plank Butt Raise: Lie facedown with legs extended and elbows bent and directly under shoulders; clasp your hands. Feet should be hip-width apart, and elbows should be shoulder-width apart. Raise your buttocks and contract your abs, then tuck your toes to lift your body (forearms remain on the ground). Do three sets of 15 reps.

B) Bicycle Crunch: Place your hands behind your head, then bring your knees in towards your chest and lift your shoulder blades off the ground, but be sure not to pull on your neck.Straighten your right leg out to about a 45-degree angle to the ground while turning your upper body to the left, bringing your right elbow towards the left knee. Make sure your rib cage is moving and not just your elbows.Now switch sides and do the same motion on the other side to complete one rep.Do three sets of 15 reps.

C) Leg Up Touch Crunch: Lie on your back, and lift your legs and arms up so they are extended toward the ceiling. Lift your upper back off the floor, reaching your hands toward your legs. Lower your legs toward the floor while reaching your arms overhead, keeping your shoulders off the floor. Do three sets of 15 reps.

D) Knee Tuck Crunch: Lie diwn on your back. Your legs should be crossed by wrapping one ankle around the other. Slowly elevate your legs up in the air until your thighs are perpendicular to the floor with a slight bend at the knees. While keeping your lower back pressed against the floor, slowly lift your torso. Remember to exhale while perform this part of the exercise. Slowly begin to lower your torso back down to the starting position while inhaling.  Speed is not the name of the game here; go slowly to focus on your form and your breathing. Do three sets of 15 reps.

HIIT workouts are one of my favourite ways to train. They are short, sweet and to the point whilst challenging yourself to push through 10-20 minutes of intense overload. While they are certainly not for the faint of heart, they definitely can be part of a great training program as they not only develop the anaerobic system, but also have aerobic benefits as well. They burn a ton of calories, preserve muscle mass, and can be done anywhere anytime. Generally, I like a work:rest ratio of either 1:1 or 1:0.5 (really extreme, but gets the job done). What ratio someone uses strongly depends on their time, goals, and fitness level. I highly suggest a ratio of 1:2 or more for beginners to allow for ample rest and play with the ratios as they see fit to their fitness level and progress. Do you like HIIT workouts? Face pulls! I used to do these high speed with heavy weight at one time and I realized, I wasn’t isolating the muscle this was meant for(rear delts)💁🏻‍♀️.

This video is sped up, but you want to go slow and concentrated so you feel it in the back of your shoulders...once I dropped the weight and started moving slower, I didn’t even need heavy weight...great addition to any back or shoulder workout, also amazing for improving posture, try it!

A good day, Good Friday

Here's my 2147 calorie day.

Complete with a Hot Cross Bun and glass of red with our traditional Friday Night Pizza Night.  I made myself a small pizza using a wrap as a base. But then I couldn't resist pinching two, then a third small piece of the girls homemade based pizza. I did estimate that each homemade piece would be about 150c each.

Do you still spend time doing 100s of sit ups and crunches? 
IF SO, PLEASE STOP!

This form is terrible and I would destroy my neck and back by pulling my head forward like this. 
The best types of exercises to safely work your abdominal muscles are stabilization or anti rotation exercises where you can brace your abdominals to engage your core without adding shear force to your spine. 
Plank holds, side planks, dead bugs, low cable press outs are just a few.

Also, by adding resistance training to your routine you will engage your core by doing squats, deadlifts and pull ups. By doing compound movements you work multiple muscle groups at once, including your abs. 
So step away from the sit ups, save your spine and do some stabilization exercises today! (I will be posting some examples)

Does anyone get that feeling that there are just too many things on the to do list and you just can't see the woods for the trees?

When you feel overwhelmed?

About 18 months ago I got to a huge turning point in my life. My life had become very stressful. I was having panic attacks at work, I would cry every day, anxiety was my constant companion and I couldn't see how to move forward.

Somehow, my unconscious brain kicked in and I made some massive changes.

I gave up full time work.
I started my online health and fitness business
I started my own Accountancy practice

I spent about 6 months reorganising myself.

Best thing I ever did.

The people that I connected with through the BeachBody health and fitness coaching business completely changed the game for me. Supportive, motivated and positive. It was a very welcome beacon of light and it continues to be.

When you feel overwhelmed, your body is trying to tell you something.
When all you want to do is to crawl under the duvet because it's all a bit much out there, it's ok to rest, to re-evaluate your life, to make changes.

When we feel overwhelmed, it is easy to want to give up trying because your energy has totally f***** off but it is completely possible to change the direction of your life.
It's a balance between rest and change.

Rest is what is needed to give yourself a break.
Change is what is needed to gain some motivation and spark.

If you are feeling overwhelmed with it all right now, put the stuff down. Give yourself some time to figure it out without pressure or stop doing what it is that is causing you to feel wrong. Whether that is how you are thinking or what you are doing.

There is always a light around around a corner. 🥰🌼💮🌸
