I’ve been feeling so good in the gym lately and I couldn’t be happier!  I haven’t been following a strict diet nor have I done a ton of cardio yet I am weighing the smallest I’ve been in a while by about 6lbs.  I usually don’t pay much attention to weight but sometimes I like to check in to see where I stand.  Ultimately focused on building strength and endurance while still enjoying the foods I love to eat, to include doughnuts and ice cream occasionally! REST IS NOT THE ENEMY☺️🙌🏽

It’s crazy how when you’re forced to rest- or in the middle of building fitness- it can feel like rest is the last thing you want to do. I think we are conditioned from our go- go-go culture to view rest as the enemy. Do you want to be successful? Work harder. Do you want to reach your goals? Sacrifice everything. How bad do you want it?! So when we NEED the rest, it’s like we are so conditioned to think it’s bad for us, it will stop us from reaching our goals- which couldn’t be further from the truth.

For me- I had to ask myself “how bad do you want it?” when I was deciding whether to take the time off that I did in order to heal & give myself the best chance of running to my potential. I know how hard it is to make the jump of deciding to rest but viewing it as the right recovery tool can make the all the difference in the quality of your training- & your life.

It’s so easy to be caught in a vicious cycle where you won’t give your body the time that it needs to recover because we are so afraid of time off. As I’ve matured as a runner, I’ve realized what an important role rest plays. So now, I don’t see it as “bad@ss” to train through things that you need to *rest* through. I see it as scary that if you push through something that your body is desperately asking for rest- that it could have long term consequences. We are trying to have sustainability & longevity in this passion of ours. Not to burn out so fast because we couldn’t identify the signs that our body needed rest- whether physical fatigue, injury, mental burnout, etc. I’m hoping that we keep becoming a smarter generation of runners that is keen on rest & listening to our bodies.☺️

Being able to take the rest you need shows a confidence & trust in your training- that everything won’t leave you in the short term & the benefits run deep. You can’t go to the well everyday & expect it not to go dry. And your mind needs a break from the regimented routine just as much. I PROMISE- if you make rest & recovery a priority- you’ll reap the benefits in a BIG way!

Thought I share with you guys my chest and triceps workout from last night. Still trying to get the hang of workout videos. 😂

Also, I decided to include the weights for each workout but feel free to lift only what you can. It’s better to start slow and build your way up. 😉

Chest & Triceps:
1. Chest press (4x15) 20lbs.
2. ISO-Lateral decline press machine (4x15) 50lbs.
3. Cable cheat flyes (4x15) 15lbs on ea side.
4. Dumbbells chest press (4x12) 15lbs. 
5. Close triceps cable pushdown (4x15) 19lbs.
6. Cable face pull (4x15) 19lbs.

Tried climbing for the first time in a very long time today, and OH MY GOODNESS I had so much fun😍 I thought I was going to be way out of my league (not saying I’m a pro by any means) but I did pretty well! Climbed to the top of the 14ft 45 degree angled wall, and although it was tough, it felt great.🙌😅💁‍♀️💪🔥

It’s was another hard Crohn’s day - still feeling fatigue and was also struggling with stomach cramps and dehydration. I took my anti-spasm meds drank a ton of water with some plant based hydrate (message me for info on that ish) and got it done. Couldn’t hit all the reps, but came pretty damn close. Feeling very accomplished but also humbled - despite my autoimmune issues I have so much to be grateful for and I live an incredibly blessed life. There are people with Crohn’s who can’t do the things I do and I think of them every time I don’t want to work out. Every time I want to make an unhealthy choice. Every time I want to complain. I’m a very lucky crohns warrior.
