Welcome to my Instagram page for all things firefighting! As you may have noticed, I have just started up this page, so I don't have much content yet. My goal is to post some pretty cool pictures from fire practice nights, fire behavior, fire safety for you and your crew, as well as fire safety and prevention tips for your family and the public.
Here's a little info about me: I am a Paid-On-Call firefighter and have been fighting fire for 10 years in rural Alberta, Canada. I have just recently been promoted to Lieutenant. I am a part of Canada's first Hybrid Fire Department. By hybrid, I mean that it has an industrial sector as well as a municipal sector. It is also a private fire company.
The photo above was taken in November 2017 during one of our routine weekly practice nights. (BTW: #nofilter ) Our practice nights are structured around 4 main topics: Structure Fires, MVC's, (Motor Vehicle Collisions) Wildland Fires and Medical Aid. We try to plan our practice nights around the same time certain types of calls, as mentioned above, are forecasted to happen. For instance, structure fires are more likely to happen during the winter months. The month of November was dedicated to structure fire practice, and sure enough, we had a structure fire call during November! We are currently moving into MVC practices, and then preparing for Wildland fires in March.
I will try to post regular practice nights, safety tips and FAQ's regarding our department since it is relatively new, and so that any confusion may be cleared up.
