“CAN I EAT CHOCOLATE AND STILL LOSE WEIGHT? 🍫

YES is the answer. 💪

You can eat whatever you like, just not AS MUCH as you like 🤔

You could potentially just eat chocolate and still lose fat.

BUT there are 3  things you should think about

1. Is this food making it harder or easier to stick to your calorie goals? - does it keep you full? Is it helping you to not overeat?

2. Is this food providing me with essential nutrients? - Remember that fat loss and health are not always intertwined. Just because you could lose weight eating nothing but nutritionally void foods, doesn’t mean you should. Especially if optimal health is important to you.

3. Does it help you adhere long term?

Health is more complex and goes beyond just your diet. Do you think it’s psychologically/socially healthy to say no to every meal with friends because the foods may not be perfect? I’d say no, but then that is up to you to decide!

Balance isn't always that clear and that's mainly because it’s kinda vague and we’re pretty shit at moderation. Finding a path that can help you stick to a “diet” or a way of eating is key.

Truth I struggle with mind focus all the time so you're not alone!

The issue with not being able to stay present and focused, letting other noisey traffic thoughts in is it can take us down a spiralling path of;
-
👉🏻negativity
👉🏻self doubt
👉🏻anxiety (oh hey I'm Sarah I get anxious and have self doubt)

I'll use an example from lifting weights if you look at a heavy bar and your thoughts go
🔸️Man that looks heavy
🔸️God not sure I can do that
🔸️What if fail what will they say
🔸️What if I injure myself
🔸️god these leggings are hideous
🔸️Shit did I leave the iron on

This is an actual script from my own head which left me;
🔸️not focused
🔸️not committed to what I wanted to achieve
🔸️It made me think about worst case scenario
🔸️It convinced me I'm going to fail

This is self sabotage and something soooo many people do without even realising, me included.🙋🏼‍♀️

That whole conversation in my head has set me up to screw myself over.
-
This how it could relate  to fat loss
🔸️Ok going i'm going to lose fat
🔸️I'll probably only get to...weight again I never get any further
🔸️Not like Peggy from accounts she's been so successful why can't I be like her
🔸️God what if I fail again
🔸️Ohhh shittt I'm so stressed I need to go eat.

These internal thoughts lead to;
🔸️Repeating passed behaviours
🔸️being unable to take action
🔸️unable to make progress

But if it isn't and you find yourself stuck in your head and stuck in.your life then YOU NEED TO GET OUT OF YOUR OWN HEAD!

Getting out of your own head is the opportunity to;

Today I got in a quick chest workout before an outdoor group bike ride. 💪🏻
Take a look at what my #Apple watch says my calorie burn is for strength training. While I worked my muscles to failure, the half hour of activity didn’t burn the calories from a #Quest bar that I ate on the way to the gym. It’s what happened after I was through that keeps the burn going. The muscle repair burns more calories after my weight lifting sessions. My point is; don’t go by what a device says and don’t overshoot your calorie burn. It takes a lot of work to burn calories and fat loss comes in time with patience. Look at the difference in the miles and calories between my watch and Strava app. These are useful tools but not 100% accurate. If you’re not losing the weight that you want it could be because you are eating more calories than your are TRULY burning. To loose fat, you must be in a caloric deficit and to have a nice physique once you’ve lost the weight, you must train and build your muscles. THIS is the BEST diet for weight loss

If you’re tired of the trial and error of all million and one diets out there, this is for you.
.
First things first, I think it is very important that we clarify the definition of the word “diet”.
.
Diet (noun): The kinds of food that a personal, animal, or community habitually eats.
.
If you are eating food, you HAVE a diet.
.
We have given the term “diet” an alternative meaning to restrict oneself in order to lose weight. And this is the definition I choose to discard from vocabulary and advise you all to do the very same.
.
When using the term diet and talking about weight loss, I mean taking your current diet (intake of food and eating patterns) and altering it to be more conducive to your goals.
.
Now that I’ve gotten that important PSA out of the way, this is the diet that my nutrition coaching clients use in order to lose weight:
.
-Eat consistently throughout the day: No skipping meals + having snacks in between meals.
-Have a carbohydrate + a protein food at every meal and snack
-Have your carbohydrate sources be from whole grains, fruit, and starchy vegetables
-Create your plate 1/2 non-starchy vegetables, 1/4 carbohydrate, and 1/4 protein.
-Read your nutrition facts labels and measure your portion sizes
-Don’t drink your calories: Stick to water (plain, sparkling, flavored), unsweetened beverages, and diet sodas.
-When craving a certain food, give yourself permission to eat it and move on.

"I am no more special than you.  I wake up with the same opportunity of trying to be better than yesterday, just like you. Am I size 0? Nope.  Am I the most ripped? Nah.  Do I have weekends where I fall flat on my face with food and exercises--umm hello lady!  I never claim to be a picture perfect fitness page, nor will I ever be.  I'm seriously just an average woman who worked hard to lose weight, has daily (some days HOURLY struggles) and got blessed to share it with people who wanted to tune in.  It's funny, this past week I reconnected with someone from grade school and he told me "I still remember riding the bus with you and you got picked on so much but you would always look back at those girls who'd throw gum in your hair and say "ya--well, I'll be something really cool when I get older! I'll help people instead of hurt people like you!" (Ya I was THAT cheesy in grade school. Still am 😁) But when he randomly messaged me this week through Facebook he said "and it's so cool to see how you are, but in a way you probably didn't think you would!" This week has been a crazy ride and I'm still holding on, but I've been tossing around the idea of just "taking that leap of faith" and training full time.  Online and in person. Opening up my own one on one training facility and still training clients online. If I fall flat on my face, I can say I at least chased a dream and tried, right!!"

This is one of the best books I’ve read recently.  Of course, I’m not a scientist and I don’t play one on TV - but the information in this book is pretty compelling. I implemented one thing from it immediately - a 72 hour fast which I just finished Friday. Honestly, I never thought I could go that long without food. And... it was not what I expected. I didn’t have pain and headaches or anything like that but I was EXHAUSTED on day three. However, when I finally did eat I came away with an amazing appreciation for food as I believe it should be...nutrition not comfort. I appreciate food 100% more now and don’t take it for granted as much. I understand why many religion promotes thankfulness for food - Anyways, the book isn’t really only about fasting but that’s an aspect I used.  If you want to read a good health book check it out. @drjasonfung

Day of Surgery to now! It’s pretty crazy to think how much has happened in these last 21 months! I never thought I would be where I am today, in both good ways and not so great ways. Here’s what I know to be true. The only thing that is consistent in this life is change. How we choose to adapt, push through, and thrive within change...that is what shapes our future and builds character. We become who we are through change. Life is a constant Ebb & Flow. There are lessons to be learned in both.

We already know how important sleep is for weight loss...so here are some tips that will help you to improve the quality of your sleep:

✨Go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day. Consistent schedule is extremely important! In just 2 weeks after your body memorizes the schedule it will be way easier for you to fall asleep and to wake up everyday. .
✨Magnesium is proven to help your body and mind relax and prepare for sleep. Try taking magnesium supplements in the evening or increase intake of foods rich in magnesium during the day (kale, avocados, bananas)

✨Another good way to relax before sleep is to read a book (not your phone) or to journal. .
✨Stay away from your phone and laptop to avoid exposure to blue light. Our brain thinks that it’s a day time when it sees blue light, so it doesn’t want to prepare for sleep.

✨Chamomile tea can also help you to relax and calm down your mind before sleep. But make sure to drink it at least 1-2h before sleep, as drinking too much liquid right before bed can actually prevent you from falling asleep.

✨Air out your room before going to bed and make sure there’s no distracting light. For the best quality sleep your room should be cool, but not too cold.

Because inevitably, you try to do it all at once and the moment you have an off day or something doesn’t go as planned, you feel like you F’d up.⁣⁣

You either convince yourself you’ll just try again next week, or keep yourself in a negative space and half ass everything.⁣⁣

Leading to a constant cycle of *never being consistent enough with the right things to make progress or feel really good about the dedication you’re showing yourself*⁣⁣

And I KNOW that’s not what you want SO- let’s talk about how to get OUT of this cycle & ONTO to results👇🏼⁣⁣

1️⃣ Set REALISTIC goals that you can actually commit to (ex. 3 workouts instead of 5). Overtime, you can turn it up a notch if you want.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
2️⃣ Focus on ONE thing at a time (ex. getting consistent with working out and THEN incorporating a light meal prep).⁣⁣
⁣⁣
3️⃣ Realize that ONE off day will not make or break ya goals, unless you allow that to turn into a week or a year. Allow yourself to F up & then keep going!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
4️⃣ Ask for help. I know it’s the last thing we want to do, but feeling you’re best is worth putting your ego in check to get guidance & accountability.⁣⁣
