🖤 !!! she hit us with Kansas’ remixed “Dust in the Wind” in the new playlist... 🥰🥰🥰 I remember coming as close to an existential awakening as could be possible as a 5/6 year old(?) riding in the car with my mom staring blankly at whatever through the window zoning out to the lyrics of this song. It sounds weird to say but the emotion of it sank into me... and I immediately fell in love with it.
At times, it would give me a sense like I was lifting... physically.. which felt so real I once asked my mother is she could see what was happening; confirm what I was feeling. When she looked at me like I was either making a poorly-timed kid joke or sick, I guessed she had no idea what I was talking about and quickly decided to drop it less I irritate her and get myself in trouble. I finally decided, instead, to just ask who the artist was.
I don’t think she knew at the time but as it played often on the radio then, I quickly learned and have kept it as a favorite every since.
Somber maybe, but transcendent. 🧘🏽♀️🥰 #nostalgicride #cycling #physicalalchemy - 58 minutes ago
