[EXPOSED DAY 6] AFTER ENDING THE TOXIC RELATIONSHIP WITH MY SLEEP, I FINALLY VALUE MY BIGGEST ASSETS 🌞 This Sunday morning, 7:15 AM, I was heading to the bakery to get some goodies for breakfast. I met one of our neighbours in the elevator going on vacation. She looked very tired and seemed surprised to see me: “Already up and about this early?” I told her that, during the last year, it became quite normal for me to go to bed when I’m tired, usually around 10 (more like 11 PM during summer), fall asleep right away and wake up everyday around 6:30. Freshly awake, without using an alarm.
My neighbour was stunned, claiming she could NEVER do this and that she needed to sleep in on the weekends.
This remembered me instantly how I was, for many, many years, claiming that I could never fall asleep before midnight. As a teenager up to my mid thirties I went to bed around midnight because I “could not” fall asleep earlier. It just was not in my power to do this. Absolutely out of the question. Nope.
I seriously believed that somehow my body was not suited for going to bed early :D
And of course, I DETESTED being awakened by an alarm. I HATED this annoying noise that was FORCING me out of bed every morning during the workweek.
And I tended to be grumpy in the mornings. And I was tired the whole day. I could not survive without lots of caffeine.
And of course, I went to bed even later and got out of bed very late on the weekends.
After some adjustments in my life - and #mind - I realigned with my natural sleep pattern.
To embrace a good sleep you apply the following procedures: Have a good night ritual including going to bed around the same time (it’s just a conditioned habit)
Don’t use screens like TV or cell phone right before going to bed (the blue unnatural light messes up your sleep hormones)
Don’t do agitating things right before going to bed like watching horror movies or the news (this activates you)
Listen to your body, it knows what it needs!
Having enough #sleep is a prerequisite for an aligned life. Your body, your mind, and your soul need it to work efficiently.
