Day 19: On perfecting imperfection
Perfection is such a subjective notion, and therefore a quite unattainable standard to hold for oneself and others. Yet, we keep on chasing it, and for what?
Today ‘should’ have been a ‘perfect’ day, but it ended up not being. It actually was perfectly imperfect, and that was more than ok. I woke up to a dark gray sky, fog and rain, which always puts a damper on my energy level.
But as the day progressed, I endeavoured to keep going, to take notice of where the detours took me, how the imperfections brought on new challenges and solutions. I tried to remain flexible and go with the flow. Yes, it wasn’t following the ‘perfect plan’ I had put together, but it also brought on unexpected and delightful opportunities. And even the weather brightened to offer us an unexpected stunning view of low clouds over Lake Ontario.
So here’s to accepting imperfection, perfecting the art of cultivating it, and relishing the surprises that come along the way.
