(A conversation with a beautiful soul in DM inspired my thoughts here. )
When I ask you "what does a religious person look like" what do you imagine? Maybe an old man with a beard reading a lot of books alone in a library?
This is what the SECULAR narrative dictates a religious person to be.
And by this definition, "religious" Jews are not "religious"!!! Why? Because a "religious" JEW looks like, well looks like #you ! They are around many #people , helping contribute to #society , raising #kids ! They are NOT alone with a vow of #silence on top of a mountain finding #enlightenment ! They are #ACTIVELY doing acts of #kindness . They are found in public schools and synagogues alike! Being "religious" in Judaism means you are in tune with your #relationship with G-D. Being in tune with relationship with G-D means you love what He loves, and therefore you follow the commandments written in His Torah. You don't blindly go through His commandments. In other religions, blindly going through commandments is being religious.
JUDAISM IS NOT A RELIGION. ITS A RELATIONSHIP. It's not a list of rules that if we go against we go to hell. A Jew that doesn't believe in G-D or even do ONE commandment is STILL a Jew. (Unlike other religions where you have to believe in and do it). A Jew is not defined by what they do or what they believe. They are defined by their essence- a Jewish soul.
They could be far from G-D but that's still in a relationship with G-D (it's far away). Judaism is not the definition of religion. It is a relationship. - 1 hour ago
