This verse is usually coupled with verse 25, which states, “not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” But I haven’t focused a lot on verse 24 before. It states, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,”... .
So often I think of the act of stirring up to be associated with stirring up controversy, hate, drama, trouble, etc. But God instilled the Holy Spirit in us to stir up truth, love, and compassion for one another as a means of motivation to run the race well with each other. Community is important and our outlook on life can be fueled with Christ rather than a worldview absent of Him. Context is everything.
