Look, you CAN get big and muscular IF YOU EAT FOR IT.. meaning, if you eat big, you get big!
BUT, if you eat for toning your body, maintaining your calorie amount or even getting into a small deficit, your body will burn your excess fat and grow muscle, which then will tone up your body!!! Action packed Saturday morning but definitely got my workout in. I love Saturday morning workouts because I can take more time to work on me while not having to worry about picking up the girls. Today I focused on cardio after having a Mexican feast last night as well as arms. I’m pretty sore from my workout yesterday so I decided that’s what would be best for me today. ***If you’d like to see a fast arm workout that will burn your arms, look out for a video on my stories. Highlight from yesterday’s shoulder session 👌I just so happened to be staring down the dumbbell rack trying to pick my next victim and noticed these lil 140s underneath the rack collecting dust. They didn’t even have a spot on the rack ! I got a thing for grabbing the heaviest dumbbells in the gym and moving them one way or another so heavy shrugs were on deck 😎

For YEARS I spent so much time performing shrugs with perfect form, holding at the top, squeezing, yada yada... For me ? It didn’t work. Not hating if it works for you but for the people that also find those perfectly performed shrugs not doing anything for your traps. Pick up some heavy weight and just shrug ! But make sure you aren’t covering them up.. The less t shirt you have on the more effective your reps become, it’s science 😉

Dumbbell Incline Bench Press Demonstration

This is a great exercise for your upper pecs.  I always prefer dumbbells to barbells as you can get a much greater stretch while lowering the weights.

To start find an adjustable weight bench and adjust the incline similar to what you see in the video.  Next grab a pair of light dumbbells to practice your first set.  Afterwards sit on the bench and carefully lean back with the dumbbells.  Next lower the dumbbells to get a full stretch and then raise the weight to the starting position.  Continue on for the desired reps and sets.

After a month of complete & utter frustration, in the fifth week post-injury (acute left lumber radiculopathy) I started noticing small differences. This sixth week has been nothing short of amazing—for the first time in well over a month I can walk & stand without pain; I can even climb stairs again. Since injured I have primarily focused on upper body (strict pull-up progression, light dumbbells & push-ups) but no barbell bench press—until today. GOD IT FELT AMAZING...3x10@95#...baby steps, but it’s progress-

Neurologist appointment Tuesday to assess whether there has been any permanent nerve damage—all indicators to date point to full-recovery, but fingers crossed.

Today I did chest. I did 120 pound dumbbells for each hand for a rep of 5. This was actually my 3rd set , not to bad for not really touching that type of weight! Trained shoulders, triceps and abs today.
-
Started it off with seated side lateral raises using negative sets. I basically went 5-6 seconds on the eccentric part of the exercise every repetition (2 second concentric as normal)
-
Negatives create more time under tension causing more muscle fibres to tear which in turn causes more muscle growth with the correct nutrition.
-
However I often feel exhausted after negative sets so have to rest 2 minutes normally inbetween sets on some exercises like bench press.

I did these for 4 sets of 8 reps.

Let’s do this!!! Great strength workout for upper body. 
My ankle is still healing and MUCH better.. I’m still going to rest if a full week before I attempt any running or leg exercises. 
When you have an injury it’s important to take a bit of time off to heal and avoid further injury.
