#MarchMeetTheMaker - I have been slack and am all behind with this. Well not really slack but chasing my tail with work.
Yesterday’s was Dream Collaboration. I would love, love, love to learn pattern design and to get my pictures onto fabric. So if there's anyone out there who'd like to work with me, just let me know. The other person who I'd love to work with is the photographer Carl Bovis. I LOVE his pictures of birds. They often involve movement and capture the details that fascinate me (like their feet). All his work is inspiring.
And then today's meet the maker is about the process. I have reams of ideas for words (thousands) and then lists of things I'd like to paint. I have thousands of photographs too. And then I just need to let my brain kind of relax enough for me to allow these things to slot together and do a quick sketch. I find this bit really hard. Not so much because it's a difficult process. But with emails, notifications, children to pick up, food to cook, animals to look after. Daily life is full of interruptions. So to have the absolute peace needed for that to happen is hard to find. I cherish my alone time. I'm fiercely possessive of it and get very grumpy at constant interruptions. Not so much once I’ve started a painting - then it's just sad to have to put my brush down. But when I'm trying to get something together....
Here are some pictures for you with words I want to use, subjects I want to draw and a typical sketch. #marchmeetthemaker #equineart #marchmeetthemaker2019 #dorsetartist #sketches #planitout #workinprogress #foxsketches #badgersketches #horses #horseart #shapes #sketchart It’s so important to get the stuff right that happens before I ever pick up my paint brushes - 8 hours ago
