*Gratitude Challenge #11 : Fashion* .
We do things on a daily basis. Apart from lazy weekends or periods of forced inactivity (or in nudist colonies, obviously), choosing an outfit is one of the first decisions most of us face every morning. And we do it as either an automatic gesture guided by a spur of the moment type of impulse, or as a planned, mindful action, carefully considered. . .
I like to think about fashion as a way of expressing myself creatively. My mood, my personality, my aspirations and my cultural experiences are portrayed and combined in my wardrobe choices, albeit very subtly. I try to use (whenever I can find and afford them!) simple lines, good tailoring, noble fabrics and monochrome garments, with an occasional pop of colour. Greys, whites, black and denim are my basics, and I think my introvert, reflective self feels very in tune with this style. I tend to spend a few minutes choosing what I’m going to wear, picking a central piece and combining it with others, considering the options from top to bottom. I am grateful that I have the opportunity to dress as I like, to make choices and be creative every day. And I like the fact that most days my exterior is in tune with my interior: sometimes relaxed and messy, often times observant and away from the spotlight. There’s nothing boring about a total black, believe me! You just have to get to the inner layers... . .
And you? What is your style? What do you think your clothes say about you? 🧵 . .
