Cardio sucks 💀 I see people complaining about cardio all the time. Why do you think so many coaches have their selling point be that their clients do zero cardio on prep? It sucks, a lot. I would bet 90% of people despise it with a passion and flat out don’t want to do it.
Well there’s a lot of shit I don’t want to do either. I don’t like paying bills. I don’t like following the speed limit. Sometimes you gotta do stuff that you don’t want to do.
Cardio may not be enjoyable but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it. It has massive benefits outside of the obvious caloric burn. It keeps your heart healthy, flushes your lymphatic system which helps promote recovery, and it improves your overall conditioning. But James, I’m a powerlifter, I don’t need to be able to do 45 min of cardio, it doesn’t apply to my sport.
Yes, you’re right. It doesn’t specifically apply to your sport, you’re not racing anyone on a treadmill or elliptical. But guess what it does do, bro?
It improves your GPP, it improves your ability to recover between sets, exercises and sessions. If you can recover faster or catch your breath between sets quicker that means you can train harder. When you train harder you get stronger or leaner or whatever your goal is. Yes, it may not directly effect your sport but it does effect your training. I’m not saying you have to do hours of treadmill work a day or even do it everyday but you need to implement some form of cardio a few times in your weekly routine. Flat out. It makes a difference. Trust me.
Wasn’t feelin the weights today so I spent just under an hour on the elliptical today. Threw a hoodie on even though it’s in the 80’s, headphones in and an episode of the Sopranos and I was good to go.
Also, really loving this @whoop band for tracking my day to day and my recovery. Definitely always a plus to have the extra analytics to back up what you’re doing and help navigate your sessions.
