This Home of Ours ️
This weekend was special for me. I spent it gardening with Derek and working on the house, making it a home.
Since I moved out of my parents house, I’ve always rented. That means I’ve never been able to make the place truly mine. I never gardened, did renovations, or invested in my space.
When I moved into Derek’s, I wondered how it would feel. Would I feel like you we shared this home? Or was I participating in an indefinite slumber party with the greatest guy on earth?
Up until this weekend, it’s felt more like a sleepover. Derek has been so inclusive and always refers to it as “our house” but I still felt slightly like a comfortable visitor.
Having my things in the house and now being able to work on it brought me a sense of ownership. I felt like I was contributing to the house in a new way and making this space a reflection of our partnership.
I’m proud of our space. I’m proud of this house. And I’m the luckiest girl that Derek is home. - 30 minutes ago
