LAST OF #reflectionsofmydayseries
These posts are like pages from my journal. Sharing some of my deepest thoughts. I hope they inspire others as they inspire me.
This journey into photography here on this feed is selfishly to feed my own soul, at the same time connecting with other like-hearted minds. 🌎 I hope we can surface to find a real connection that seems more rare as our consumerist/materialistic mentality takes over.
Thank you for joining me and taking the time to read these captions.
I am unsure when we drew a line between us and the animal world? When we decided their knowledge was somehow less superior than ours.
There is so much depth that the animal world offers us. An understanding that speaks to who we truly are.
Who we’ve forgotten about.
I see my body here, in this reflection and as I’ve grown into a woman the comments I’ve heard through the years makes me understand how we can begin to build up layers that cause a disconnection not only with the animal world but among ourselves. And this is only a fraction of a bigger issue.
‘Oh, after I had my children my breasts got bigger! What happened to yours?’ ‘It’s okay that you have thick legs.’
And the magazine layouts— the depiction of what females should look like and the pressures that photoshop, and other cosmetic surgeries have unveiled.
And so the disconnect continues.
I’ve realized as I have peeled away the many layers of myself that my breasts are perfect ( I don’t ‘need to get small cute implants’, thank you for the advice) because my breasts did what they were meant to— they fed my young.
My body housed as well as created three healthy humans.
Its strength and transformation surpasses anything I could have ever imagined. My beautiful strong legs have carried me on many journeys I never thought I could make. . .
To me, this body of mine is exquisite because it has performed its primal purpose and continues to carry me.
I am a mammal.
I am an animal.
Many of us have forgotten this piece and so we continue to conform to aesthetic pressures silencing a deeper power and voice within our primal beings. .
