Determination & Grit.

End of 2018 I was managing to get one rep at 💯 kg building towards a double body weight lift.
It’s been a long process of one week making progress to the following few weeks hitting a plateau but having that northern grit to not fail myself I’ve trusted the process and the results have come.
Last night I managed a personal best at 💯 kg X 10 reps so pleased with this, then followed with a set of 3 at 115 just over double BW.
Thank you to @theandrew.tracey for believing I was capable to get 10 at 100.

34 year old Jennifer does not recover as fast as 30 year old Jennifer. My back was still so tired for these. 320 for a single then 355x2 instead of 3 on mid shin block pull. No sense in pushing something if it’s not there. .

I recently began experimenting with a squat-stance deadlift. The idea makes a lot of sense: Deadlifting and squatting in the same stance complements each other quite well, it’s a position you’re used to generating force in, and more importantly, feels pretty comfortable. This stance will be a good fit for most people to learn the deadlift. Also it’s impossible for me to make a good video.

Soooo I went to PT yesterday and he said that there’s no significant damage to my hip and I’ll be going twice a week to get that taken care of! He also said my shoulder/bicep is strong and that there’s no damage there but it’s probably just strained/over used which I agree with. I’ve been trying not to do much overhead for the past week and it really does feel better everyday. I was even able to deadlift up to 240 for 4 overhand and without a belt so I’m pretty happy I was able to do that without aggravating anything! I remember a year ago when I was terrified of the free weights section and of weight lifting. 
I wouldn’t be caught dead near those big scary weights and squat racks and never even gave dead lifting a thought. 
When I finally did give it a try, just the bar was such a struggle. 
Sure, a year later, I may only be adding on 10 lbs a side, but my strength is getting better, my form is better, and it’s progress. Now to focus on consistency 💪🏼
Looking back on last year, and seeing where I am today, helps push me to keep going and keep working towards my goals. “Night at the bar” - not srs.

I’d certainly rather be out crushing a social feed and a lubricant or two but when all others are busy, i do my best to use my time productively (or is it reproductively judging off of that belly 😯😂🤰🏼 Seriously though. I believe a lot of people misunderstand the purpose of a belt, which is to create intra-abdominal pressure and through that, stability through your torso.

To do this, take a decent breathe deep in to your stomach and with the air held in, focus on applying pressure outwards through your stomach and obliques. Envision you’re almost trying to ‘pop’ the belt off using the pressure you’ve created within your mid section.

And thats all folks. Rinse and repeat, holding the air in through the rep and refilling ‘at the top’ if you need to.

Toen ik een jaar of 13 was, dacht ik dat ik het op 26-jarige leeftijd al wel ‘gemaakt’ had en in NYC zou wonen.

I write this post with nothing but honesty. 
How is a woman judged in this world?! By the number on a scale. It’s pathetic and very detrimental to mental health. I’ve gone though it and I AM going through it. 
It’s a mental battle. Am I good enough? Should I eat that? Can I have that ice cream? Have I sweated enough? Did I burn enough calories this session? It’s such a damn battle that I find it starts to consume so much more of me and I HATE it!! I’m more than that stupid number or that body fat percentage or the calories I didn’t burn. I’m more than the macros, gym sessions and calorie counting. I have flaws. My belly is not flat, I have cellulite (a lot of it), stretch marks are real and hey my triceps jiggle 
BUT when I stop and look around me I realise I’m not counting the blessings I DO have .. I’m healthy. I’m alive. I have a roof over my head, clean water and electricity. I have an amazing career, family unit, and friends. I’m educated, I can travel and I have money saved. 
So I have to pep talk myself as well as others when I say FUCK THE SCALE and just LIVE! Be you! Enjoy the moments and take life with a grain of salt. 
You are good enough; always have and always will be and if they don’t like it .. be sure to tell them where to stick it ❤️

Haven't done any high intensity stuff for about 2.5 months now, so I was really excited about doing it again.⁣
